Power start to 2024 great reaction and movie

Also for Freeza’s voice lol that was his original voice actress before being replaced by the late Chris Ayres in DBZ Kai

So just some context, yeah that was Grand Kai, who's above four normal Kai's but below the Supreme Kai, he was introduced in a filler arc in the original Z; same with Pikkon who's a fighter from the West Galaxy, I believe. As for the intro, I'm not sure why, but despite the rest of the film using the Japanese score, it decided to give you the intro with the American music so that;s why it was a different song with no lyrics, but at least you got to hear it there, I suppose. Also yeah, that was Frieza's old VA before she got re-casted. A decision for the best, in my opinion. I do like how Gogeta has about 3 minutes of screentime, and yet he's one of the most popular characters to seemingly exist as far as the DB community goes. You can kinda consider this a "What if Gohan beat Super Buu", considering both Goku and Vegeta are still dead. One of the more enoyable films, to be sure, I think.

Linda Young was previously the voice for Frieza in the OG DBZ and Christopher Ayres was currently the voice of Frieza in DBZ Kai and onwards until he died in 2021.

I always find that line so cool which gogeta says "every force you create has an echo your own bad energy will be your undoing" also you can hear the first half of the sentence Goku voice is more dominant and then second half of the sentence vegeta voice becomes more dominant

The jelly bean things are an example of Janemba using reality manipulation. That's one of the reasons this Z movie is my favorite, Janemba is OP as shit.

Fun fact: When the Grand Kai was introduced to Goku in the afterlife, the first thing he did was challenge Goku to a motorcycle race to see if he was a cool guy or something, and even Goku was like, what a weed-smoking grandpa is that? Well at least in the dub version that I watched back then.

Linda Young was the OG Frieza that everyone grew up with in the early 2000s. She's a very nice, gentle, and sweet lady. Fun fact, she's a singer and performing artist in a band (I don't remember their name, or if they're still together). Also, she plays one of the main characters and a fan favorite as a very tough but good hearted and wise grand master Genkai who teaches the main protagonist in Yu Yu Hakusho, which I still heavily recommend to watch!

Remember like i mentioned previously young male characters were often voiced by Females instead in older anime because of the lack of Voice actors i think, Frieza was one of those characters and i often thought he was a she because of it when i was younger lol. All the strong characters have squeaky feet for some reason lol. I think it has to do with the ki electricity we see when they power up. Be glad Super isnt as weird as these ones. Though it would make more sense if you watch all the episodes instead of a "abridged" version like you guys are. The most common explanation for the holes is that they are easier to draw in place of ears, and thats how Akira pictured monsters when he was little. Jenemba is whats known as a ogre in DBZ, i think the holes in his belly were met to be in reference to SAM Artillery trucks from WW2/cold war with the Hitler thing happening on the surface. Gohan and Videl are just having some fun after defeating frieza in one punch whats wrong with that :P

Yeah, that’s the Frieza I know. Nothing wrong with the new voice actor, but I guess I’m just used to hearing the old voice. And it’s nice to see the debut or Gogeta, despite it being non-cannon l. The movies are pretty weird, but Battle of Gods and onwards, they are more coherent and more enjoyable. And those movies are cannon. Now, to introduce you to one of the most debated arguments, who do you think would win in a fight Gogeta or Vegito? A debate fans have argued for years.

ChosenxShadow

Vegito is what you get when they fuse with Potara earrings, Gogeta is what you get when they do the fusion dance. Vegito tends to act more like Vegeta & Gogeta tends to act more like Goku.

I think the squeaky feet was sort of a dragon ball trademark in a way. Even to this day that sound effect along with a lot of dbz sound effects are even used in memes. I even heard the sound effect when stephen a smith was making fun of some basketball player on espn. I think it was just a way to distinguish itself from other shows. If you hear that sound anywhere, you know its dbz.

PowderPuffGirL

Here are the cannon dbz movies: History of trunks, battle of gods, resurrection f, dragon ball super broly & dragon ball super hero. That being said i love the these quick dbz movies. They're just a short fun time, like a mindless ride just to just enjoy. I never took the non cannon movies seriously like the cannon ones & this movie certainly feels like a mushroom trip lmao

Fascism is heavely dependent on aesthetics so there is no better way to defeat them than mocking them. And what a way to mock Hitler by making him fight (and lose) to two 7-8 years old children! Regarding the final attack, Gogeta used something referred in the games as Soul Punisher (Among those lines) which appears to be a spirit-bomb variant. It destroys the negative energy and purifies it. Because Janemba was made of hundreds of thousands of years of evil energy merging into the teenage ogre, this attack was perfect for it. You can argue the same happened against Kid Buu, the spirit bomb is known for attacking negative energy specifically, which is why Gohan was able to redirect it towards Vegeta in the saiyan saga. It is a perfect weapon against enemies that are build or composed by evil energy or magic.

I'm pretty sure that "Little Green" wrote this movie. Whilst having a "Little Green"

Although Babadi (and by extension Bibidi) claimed that Maajin Buu was created by Bibidi, that's been retconned by Akira Toriyama, wh stated that Bibadi was lying. Buu is some kind of eldritch abomination that was spawned near the dawn of the universe. Some kind of physical manifestation of negative energy. He wasn't created by Bibidi; merely discovered and unleashed by him. And in successive cycles of hibernation and destruction, Buu slowly absorbed the despair, hate and evil that floated about the universe. In which case, he's not dissimilar to how Janemba was formed (i.e. and evil being formed by eons of evil accumulated in the soul cleansing machine). Which might be why they were physically similar; they're similar creatures. The squeaky feet thing is a recurring thing in retro anime. I think it's just to give the movements of inhuman characters are more monstrous feel. But it's not just DBZ that did it. I honestly have no idea where it originated from, but it's seen in a lot of 80s and 90s anime. Pekon was an anime only character introduced in a filler arc between the Cell Games and the Buu saga. He's actually really strong; stronger than Cell Games Saga Goku. And Goku has an extended fight scene with him during an actual other world tournament arc in the anime (that ends in a draw, if I remember correctly). He's briefly see in the Buu saga when Kid Buu invades Heaven. And Kid Buu stomps him easily.

I CANT WAIT FOR THE BATTLE OF GODS MOVIE!!

I remember a different background music score for this movie? this movie BGM sucked and it sounded like the ocean dub for DBZ which is the worst dragonball BGM.

Others have already mentioned the OG Frieza VA. If you remember back to the DBZA Movie Bardock: Father of Goku by TFS, when Frieza first appears they made a joke about the change in VA. You should revisit it so the joke makes more sense now.

Nothing wrong with having fun 😜 But they also could've helped out with the tanks and what not although Trunks and Goten didn't really need help haha

This was the Japanese music. The dvds we got allowed us to choose either one so we thought it would be unique and fun to have English dialogue but the original Japanese soundtrack. Although it appears most people prefer the American score 😬 🤗

definitelynotdefinitive

Yeah he was just insanely powerful but also childlike as Fat Kirby was. Not same level, but just that smiling, scary monster kind of thing. Like the Stay Puff Marshmallow man in Ghostbusters 😃

REDE

Yup, both share the trait of terrifying me as a kid lol

k c

Hopefully, they forget that description if they do watch it.

Yeah, Hitler being in the movie was definitely controversial. The German, French, and Hebrew versions cut all of those scenes out entirely. The Polish and European Spanish versions cut out Hitler but kept the battling with the tanks. When Nickelodeon broadcasted all the old Z movies onto TV, they also cut it entirely out. In the Japanese dub, there is a lot of mocking reference both to him but also to certain cultural aspects of Imperial Japan from WW2 as well. There are also some references to other works as well. The insignias are all Xs instead of swastikas, which is a lot like the Charlie Chaplin movie “The Great Dictator” and Gotenks using the Super Ghost Kamikaze to finish them all off was like the spirits from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Ventus Wenton

For most, it's nostalgia of the Bruce Falconer score, not necessarily a difference in quality. The original VHS cassette movies had a deal with the dubs using popular rock music at the time too (Lord Slug- Disturbed's Stupify, and Cooler's Revenge- Deftones' Change [in the house of the flies]) that also got changed in the future movie rereleases
