Gohan wouldn't be able to get to videl, remember they just got wished back, so he would've had to look for her, he has no clue where she is. He also didn't have his saiyaman outfit on before he was wished back. Although W idea! lol

& yes! it's a tearjerker seeing the old school characters who goku helped as a kid for sure! the original dragon ball is actually the first thing i watched with my brothers. It's arguably the best of dragon ball, such a heartfelt journey, fun, endearing & even heart breaking at times. Solely focused on martial arts too. Goku helped a looooot of people to say the least lol
