Ah yes, the moment where Toriyama officially ensured Gohan could never be Goku's replacement as main character. Honestly, it's for the best, Gohan gets really disrespected in this arc compared to the others. Also y'alls reaction to Vegeta was everything I had hoped it would be.

Remember how Tien was leagues behind 17/18 and even more behind Semi-perfect Cell (The one with the ugly mouth) and despite that, he managed to stall Semi-perfect Cell with his attack? To have an idea of where Buu is, Dabura is on par with PERFECT Cell and he was nothing compared to Buu. Buu then went through many transformations and is far, far more dangerous than he was before. It's no wonder why Tien's tri-beam or Kikoho no longer has an effect on him.

So much of the Buu saga does not progress the plot, Super saiyan 3 Goku, Gotenks fusion, and 'ultimate' Gohan. The decision to replace Gohan as the main character right at the near the end, after so much build up with the way the cell saga ended, starting with the whole highschool stuff, the Z-sword and elder kai power is just odd, but ultimately the author felt Gohan wasn't suited for the role. There is a great conculsion to the arc with remaining characters, even though they made up total BS reasons for these characters to be alive at the last moment.

Yeah but every arc has spots where it drags (Namek saga) but it's better to watch enjoying the parts of it you do like.

You guys still havent learned time passes hella slow in dragon ball 10 minutes for us is like 2 for them lol. Krillin and Goku both trained together under roshi. And goku has seen krillin use the destructo disc quite a few times This episode is one of my favorite of the series

They make a giant joke out of it in Dragon Ball Z Abridged, Goku is notorious for stealing everyone's techniques and just using them. Although when it comes to the Kienzan and Taiyoken, Krillin is still king. Which is hilarious, because I think the Taiyoken was originally Tien's thing.

Just goes to show you that Tien is bad enough to save the president. Guy is hopelessly outmatched and still goes in to get his shot in on Buu. Even managed to land the hit, even though it didn't do anything.

Yea it was Tien first uses it against goku in the Original Dragon ball during one of the tournaments and we learn it severely depletes his energy in the Saiyan saga

In the manga, Goku estimated that Gohan was STILL stronger than Buu at this point (which just goes to show how stupidly powerful Gohan is right now). He lost because of Buu's head games. He was still capable of beating Buu physically, but he was just too rattled. In the anime, I feel that Buu is unambiguously stronger; it's not the first, or the last departure from the manga in that respect.
