Piccolo is always seen as the better paternal figure especially for Gohans sake, by most abridged and regular viewers, but most forget how piccolo treated a 4 year old Gohan as a kid, left him alone and yelled at him to stop crying for his dead father 😭, Piccolo only became nicer to Gohan after a short while, so although I agree Gokus actions towards the end were rough, I think was necessary, especially since he only has a few hours left to teach them

Shenron can be seen by everyone. Bulmas family is rich though and covers up anything that happens As for the ladder as others have said it was first used by the z fighters before they learned how to fly

The ladder leads to the bottom of the tower where Goku originally climbed it in Dragon ball when he was a kid. There are actually people guarding the bottom of the tower. The ladder leads to korins tower and then eventually Kamis tower (the lookout)
