Didn’t think you guys would check this series out but hell yeah. So a quick tl:dr: a group of students (16) are captured and told that they can escape is they kill another student and get away with with. If caught they they will get executed. So all the students you saw in the video got caught. As for the bear, that’s the masterminds avatar. They use the mechanical bear to communicate with the students and taunt them. They have cameras everywhere so they always know who killed who. That’s what game is about. Figure out who the murderer is and who is the mastermind behind this whole ordeal. While it sounds selfish, it should be noted not all of the students showed in the executions killed with the intent of escaping. Some of them killed accidentally, others killed with the intent of duping the mastermind meaning that the victim agreed to be killed. Lastly, the executions are meant to be ironic, since these students are called “ultimates” meaning they are the best in their field, such as the ultimate pianist and ultimate astronaut, and so the execution taunts their abilities. The student in this video, in order of appearance, were: The ultimate pianist, maid, anthropologist, entomologist, astronaut, and robot (because anime).

Oh I guess I forgot but the “main” bear, the avatar, is the black and white one. The others ones are it’s “children” and merely assist him. The black and white bear is called “Monokuma.” The others are referred to as the “Monokubs.” Monokuma is black and white because, in the first game, the games theme was about hope vs despair. Black vs white. And the design just stuck around because it was popular. While these are just games, the first game got an anime adaptation, so you can check it out to see the twist and turns the first game had.
