Let's be honest, Krillin deserved something today.

I was gonna give you an epilogue of what happened to all the characters after the show, but since you're going to watch Kai, I'll hold it in for now. I started watching Kai again the other week, and I do think it's gonna be a bit of a tone shift for you guys; especially given the first seven or eight episodes of the Buu arc feel almost like a totally different genre (it feels almost like Sailor Moon rather than DBZ), but once it gets moving it's back to being class. I'll be interested in seeing how you connect with the incarnations of the charactes in the real show. All of them are still recognizable as themselves - Piccolo and Krillin are basically the exact same characters, and most of the other Abridged versions of the characters are basically just (slightly) exaggerated versions of themselves. I will warn you that the first few episodes of the Buu arc may be a bit of a "what the heck is this?" moment. But once you get past them (and you kinda of need to watch them to establish the dynamic between Gohan and a new character in that arc), it starts moving really well. And it has a downright TERRIFYING villain.

For me the first couple eps of the buu arc were always the best in the entire series.

I can definitely understand that feeling of just being content with the ending and not having much to say. It is a very satisfying one. Fun Fact, the music during the final Kamehameha was made in-house by TFS's own AinTunez, and is a beautiful mixture of the Japanese SSJ2 transformation music, Day of Fate, and the English one, Gohan Angers. It a detail I love that shows just how much they love this show. Obviously, the parting between Vegeta and Trunks was an edit, as there was no middle finger moment, but honestly, I think what they did here is infinitely better and more in-character. I'm going to parrot my previous "post-DBZA" recommendations of DBZA in 10 words or less by TotallyNotMark and DBCember by TeamFourStar, but I think I can also throw in recommendations of TotallyNotMark's full reviews of Dragon Ball, GT, and Super. He hasn't done one for Z, yet, but I feel like it'll happen eventually. Granted, I don't recommend those AS much as the other videos, but they're there if you're interested. Going to watch the epilogue reaction now, but I'm glad you've enjoyed this series as much as you have. I think you'll really enjoy the Shortz and HFIL as well. Keep in mind, the Shortz aren't as comedy-focused, as they're more fun little stories that take place after Cell.

Absolutely loved watching your DBZ abridged reaction series from the VERY BEGINNING! YouTube knows to put you at the top of my recommended every time you dropped a new video for it! Now I'm sure it's been suggested to you but you should check out their other abridged series: Hellsing Abridged! Same writers and voice actors, and the guy who voiced Perfect Cell also voices the protagonist in it :)

Loved the reaction! The cosplay for pt 1 was super sweet too :) ive said this before but my hope wont die: you should really check out bojack horseman on netflix if you havent already!

King Rama

made it to the end! still have the epilogue to go of course, but i'm gonna give one last fun fact about abridged! The reason Mr. Popo is so ridiculously powerful in abridged is actually because in the next DBZ arc, there's a scene with him training and fighting against two super saiyans at the same time and using one hand for each. It's probably a 10 second scene at most, but I thought it was amazing how TFS took that one moment and made an entire character based around it.

Are you guys doing DBZA Kai 3 (the fast paced recap of season 3)?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaRrEIX6BKk ^Teamfourstar did an alternate version of the final part with Cell except with You Say Run as the music instead. I think it fits even better than what they actually used.

Just to let you know, in the original, everyone pitched in and attacked cell, not just vegeta, team four star just took that part out for whatever reason

Jennifer Sunderland

Because it wasn't in the manga. In the manga, it's just Vegeta that helps out, and it was a big watershed moment for him. Having the other characters interfere was an anime only addition, and it kind of diminished the effect of Vegeta being the one to step up and help. TFS felt the same way, so they restored it to just Vegeta being the one to help Gohan.

they took it out so it's more like the manga. same reason they took out those weird three entertainer people that are with satan during the cell games in the anime

you guys have got to check hellsing ultimate abridged next

definitelynotdefinitive

We've started watching it and done the first two episodes. We love the characters now after watching DBZA so enjoyed the episodes. It does feel a little different, but it hasn't deterred us. 🙂

We haven't checked it out yet. And it's okay if you've said it before, you can keep recommending/reminding us. We get lots of suggestions so it takes awhile for things to sink in haha. 🤗

definitelynotdefinitive

Yes, we are going to do the DBZA Kai 3 and 3.5. We forgot to mention that, but that will be the next DBZA thing we check out before the shortz and HFIL

Sorry for the wall of text, but these are some small details that you wouldn't know because you didn't watch the originals (yet?). Some clarification regarding 7:26, that many people don't get what that's referencing to: Kuririn asked that to Tenshinhan because back in the classic Dragon Ball, Tenshin used a technique called Shiyouken (Four Witches Technique/Four Supernatural Fists), which literally grows two extra arms on his shoulder blades to fight. I believe in America it's called American Sign Language, so kinda makes sense why he asked that lol Also, interesting thing to know and was cut from the abridged: Gohan was holding back during the whole kamehameha clash because he was afraid of destroying the planet if he went full power (after losing his arm he stated that he lost half his power and he was still THAT strong...so, yeah...). Goku actually convinced him that he should go all out and any damage could be reversed with the dragon balls, even then he was still reluctant. And yes, Geets really apologized for 'being only a liability'

i would have really loved to see the DBZA take on vegetas character arc in the buu saga.

I definitely felt the same about the ending! I still didn’t love that Goku choose to stay dead but I understand his reasons. In the dub, Vegeta’s apology isn’t just about how he let Cell get this strong. He feels completely useless for this fight because he attacked Cell with everything to avenge his son and only managed to get in the way. Not to mention when Goku asks Gohan to fight Cell, Vegeta is baffled because the idea that Gohan might be stronger was absurd to Vegeta. Also that last moment where Vegeta is flying over the battlefield, he vows to never fight again. He was upset Goku died and he never got to prove himself to Goku.
