Invincible 8

Since it's the last episode let's talk about Amber. If you think this is out of line let me know. She lost her entire leg to stand on when she told mark she knew he was invincible, which ruined her whole character for me. The fact her boyfriend is in the hospital for supposedly after a major car accident and she puts that against him that he wasn't at the cookhouse. She knew about his secret before the courtyard and that made her entire argument look ridiculous. Then there's her consistent use of emotional abuse. Which is used from near the beginning after her introduction, when she doesn't want to be with Mark because he impressed her, she wanted to be with him because it looked like he and Eve were together. She doesn't call him herself, she literally blackmails the dickwad. Which is played off as a 'you go girl' moment or feeling, but in reality is messed up and only the start of the writers either ignoring or even glorifying her toxic actions. It's not that the bully doesn't deserve to get his karma, it's the fact she's the type of person to do that to anyone over something so easily. She was OK until she revealed that she knew he was invincible for weeks (before he was injured). It retroactively makes her look so much worse in all their arguments. That was definitely the tipping point. In the comics, the OG character was a white character and was nowhere near like in the show, in the TV show the writers, unfortunately, made her a token black character top it all off they gave her the worst stereotypical traits associated with POC women and sprinkled in a bit of SJW, feminist and good ole American 1st world entitlement. Mark was a bad boyfriend by accident, with the intentions of saving the world and being trying there for Amber. Amber was a bad girlfriend on purpose, with the intentions of getting Mark to pay her more attention, and have him reveal his biggest secret right away. Let's not pretend Mark was a good boyfriend, he wasn't, he was flaking on her all the time and not even giving her a decent idea as to why. That's not to say he should have told her his secret identity like people want to argue, She acts as if she's entitled to his deepest most important, and dangerous secret before 6 months of a relationship as teens, but he could have told her had a job that he was on call for at all times and contracted to be secret about. Because that would at least be honest, even if a lie of omission. However, that's the thing. She acted entitled and expect him to tell her. Would you give your SO of 3 months your credit card information? Do you think it's ok to attack someone for not giving said information that is in any way not toxic and abusive? A secret identity is permanent, you can't divorce it out of their mind. This idea that your partners should have infinite access to all your information the moment you start dating them is an abuser's wetdream and so damn toxic. But because she's a minority and a woman, she must be in the right. It's racist/sexist to say otherwise. The comic book version of Amber was a better version in my opinion, when she broke up with mark it’s because she couldn’t bear to see him getting hurt all the time and she wasn’t mad when she learn who he was. Mark: Finds out his father has been lying to him, and the entire world, about his true identity for years. Gets beaten to a bloody pulp and almost loses his life to the man who was supposed to protect it. Completely shattering the bond between father and son. And now finds himself having to pick up the pieces of his now destroyed family, all the while carrying the burden of being earth's protector at age 17 Amber: Feels left out from a secret. Also Amber: I guess we both got lied to huh? For me Amber had good points until she said she knew.

Amber was garbage. The fact that they smiled at her showing up and slipping right back into place says a lot.

Truly shows that Marks name is literal in the sense that his will and determination to do good is Invincible.
