Here’s a few bits of info to help understand each character: Dr Ratio: A scholar of the Intelligentsia Guild. Unlike the similar group, The Genius Society, whose members goals are mostly selfish, the Intelligentsia Guild is all about sharing knowledge with others. Black Swan: A memo keeper from the garden of recollection, she serves the Aeon (god) of remembrance, whose main goal is to collect and record all events of the universe via people’s memories. Sparkle: A masked fool that serves the Aeon of Elation, whose main goal is to cause chaos and disruption throughout the universe as a form of entertainment and joy. Acheron: A woman whose homeworld was destroyed by the void, that void actually being the Aeon of Nihilty, who basically believes existence is pointless, and sits and wallows in the darkest corners of the universe, occasionally passing planets and consuming them just by being there. Acheron actually survived the power of the Nihility, but became cursed with its power. She now looks for a way to end this curse and find meaning to life again. Aventurine: A member of the IPC’s strategic investment department, they’re basically responsible for the universes economy and growth. They follow the Aeon of preservation, whose main goal is establishing longevity and protection of the universe. Aventurine is a gambler as his whole life has been about beating the odds, no matter how outweighed they are. Robin: A celebrity known throughout the universe, she performs to spread the teachings of the Aeon of Harmony, an Aeon that preaches unity amongst all living things. Boothill: A Galaxy Ranger, his deal is pretty straight forward, he’s a bounty hunter cyborg. Fun fact: he’s been programmed not to curse, so you’ll hear him say things like ‘fudge’, ‘son of a nice lady’, etc. Firefly: Born as a living weapon to fight for her home-world, her only purpose was to fight and die for her world by piloting a mecha suit known as SAM. Born with an affliction known as Entropy Loss Syndrome, she now seeks to defy her fate, and find the meaning of life.

Ken's team is actually brutal. Acheron is by far the most powerful character in the lore right now, and the highest damage deal of any playable character. Boothill does very high single-target damage (so he's a good boss killer), and Robin is a very powerful buffer. Aventurine is a tank, so he can apply sheilds to everyone and make them almost unkillable. So Ken probably ended up with the better team. Aventurine actually has a cameo in Boothill's video. He's sitting in a chair that Boothil runs past (he's only visible for a few frames). Topaz and Jade also show up (you've seen Topaz in a previous trailer, but you haven't met Jade). No WONDER Boothill jumped ship. He's pretty strong, but he's a bug on the windshield to those three monsters. Dr Ratio is kind of weak, to be honest. But her other three are really powerful. Sparkle is the second strongest buffer in the game after another character called Ruan Mei, and Firefly is a friggin BEAST in terms of damage. Her damage output is only slightly behind Acheron's. Black Swan is also very strong, but she inflicts damage over time. Lots and lots of damage across several turns, but she doesn't pump out big, impressive numbers in one go. Beth's team isn't bad, but all of them are kind of fragile (although Firefly has a powerful self-heal, she also takes damage every time she attacks. So she can get killed if a boss hits her with a big attack at the wrong moment). Robin certainly isn't a stripper :D She's arguably the most seiso character in the game. But she's not a fighter. She's a buffer who boosts the party by singing. Which causes a big stat boost to the rest of the characters. She has her own singing animation and changes the combat music to match the song she's doing.
