So, it's been deduced that the DLC will take place at the same time as the main game, or rather before the Tarnished sets the Erdtree aflame. We'll be following the whereabouts of Miquella, the only demi-god essentially absent from the base game, as he chose to abandon his flesh even before Mohg adbucted him. It seems as though he'll be the one guiding us in the DLC, to stop a terrible war happening in a land that lives in the Erdtree's shadow, close enough to see it, but devoid of Grace. A war started by Messmer, a warmonger wielding a powerful flame (possibly the Frenzied Flame, though nothing is sure yet). We only know that Miquella left specifically to stop this war, and possibly to allow these lands to be basked in the Erdtree's glow. Because as far as we know, if he had been present during the events of the main game, he would have been able to claim the Elden Ring, being the most powerful Empyrean and worthy of godhood. Either way, I can't wait to learn more about the game's world through the DLC. I've replayed it recently, after learning as much as I could with lore videos, and it's just incredible to see the amount of work put into building the world and telling a story simply with different places. The game also has over 100 bosses, though most are optional and some are really well hidden / tied to specific questlines, so I will love to see what the new bosses will be like. And the DLC drops on my birthday, so I'm gonna get a good present for myself.
