So, I remember seeing an analysis of World of Light, and its endings, a few years ago. From what I remember, it was theorised that Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind the game as well as Kirby's creator, used World of Light as a metaphor for video games. The video spoke of Galeem possibly representing Nintendo, with the first cutscene being the company taking hold of all the IPs that were created for its game consoles and essentially "taking their spirit away from their original purpose", transforming them into something that the original creators didn't want, and keeping them alive to get as much money out of them as they can. This part of the theory is based mostly on Sakurai protecting Kirby from Nintendo's influence, always refusing deals that didn't involve his direction, and the fact that Galeem fights using the Master Hands. For Darkhon, it could possibly represent the players themselves, wanting to take control of the characters and transforming them into, more than often, something darker and more twisted than they are. Nintendo's hold over the characters being what it is, the characters stay protected by copyright against wide-spread twisted versions of themselves. This part of the theory is based on the fact that Darkhon first appears after Galeem has been weakened, and also the fact that it uses Crazy Hands to fight. This would make the Bad Ending show, essentially, the players "enslaving" Nintendo, making it create more characters that they can then turn into whatever they want (marking the effective death of these games). The Good? Ending would be Nintendo taking complete control over the characters, destroying everything created by the players, even fanarts, and keeping them under their control forever. The True Ending would then represent defeating both Nintendo and the players, and could have 2 meanings : either the spirits are returned to their original creators, letting them do what they originally wanted to do with their own characters, or letting them die while they're still considered good in the eyes of the public (so, essentially, stop releasing new games with old characters). It was just a theory though, and I haven't followed anything else regarding this, so I don't know if it's accurate, a complete delusion, or still under consideration.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think that video was Matpat's follow up to his prior Smash Bros theories. It's an interesting take, but I highly doubt that idea is what World of Light is "supposed" to be about.

Kirby is the only survivor because he is Sakurai's precious baby boy.
