R.I.P. Shunsuke Kikuchi, these tracks are some of him at his peak in my opinion. Always loved his work especially from the Cell saga (Movie 5-7) era. Also interesting to hear Dameon Clarke as Gohan, forgot he played him in this special as well as how hilarious Eric Vale sounds as a younger Trunks considering he can't really pull that off anymore. Never a bad idea to revisit the classics I suppose but I'm so glad we're past the "darn you!" era of DB dubbing.

Interesting. I grew up watching DBZ in the mandarin chinese dub, so while the background music is familiar (the same as the original Japanese score), the English and awkward sound mixing definitely provides some contrast with the nostalgia. All the same, always love to see someone checking out DBZ content :)

It has a spoiler to the big reveal of the episode, the opening gets updated to the new arc with new characters like Black

Trunks most likely survived due to the androids underestimating him. Embracing the idea that because they killed Gohan Trunks must go down easy. Also these androids are different from the androids in the main story. The androids from the main story were significantly stronger than the ones in trunks's future and they weren't evil either.

That isn't a spoiler buddy that's just an intro change, which it did for the previous arc as well. (with hit and other universe 6 characters) There is no reason to skip it and if they did they would literally need to continue doing that until all of the characters that are in the intro make their appearances.

Ngl I wasn't used to the music either, I preferred the English version. No offense to Kikuchi's score, I'm just not a fan of old-timey music in general. Besides that, you can see how dark and serious DBZ was as opposed to Super, where they wanted to attract audiences of all ages as opposed to the teens and older that shonen anime typically attract. Looking forward to the next arc for sure, and like someone said earlier in the comments, don't watch the opening for the next episode as it contains spoilers

There's something so cringe about the early american dub, like they didn't know what DBZ was about, or cared about the characters, the writers just projected their preconceived ideas. You can totally see it with how they've written Gohan in this. Thank goodness for Kai and Super 😅

Awesome Special! If I were to give heads up for Episode 47 next I highly recommend skipping the next episode's intro if you can as since it's going to be the start of the next major story arc the intro will change to reflect this and it spoils one of the biggest surprises in the episode and I would hate for the moment to get ruined because of it keep up the awesome work!

Bro I'm literally saying they should close their eye in the next intro only for that episode because it features black in the opening, who is the big reveal of the episode. Just for the next episode not the whole arc.

To each's own i prefer the oldskool of this i wish they changed the music to the amercan dub hey that's what they wanted to hear. You also have to understand this came out in the 90's so translation was much more difficult back then. Not really their fault i think Kai is personally too robotic to me but hey we're are dragon ball fans & that's all that really matters

The old timey music is the japanese dub version you change the audio on the dvd to the funimation version aka american version which i prefer but i'm never mad at the fans who prefer the japanese ost either. Father of Goku the bardock movie is another amazing movie as well! Another dark one too. I highly recommend listening to the american music for that movie as well but it's all up to you obviously

Also the anime doesn't fully explain it but the manga does explain it. The reason why the androids just like doing normal things is because Dr gero abducted them as teenagers & experimented on them. One of the reasons they hate humans because they see the worst of human beings & they never got to be normal. So the future androids & the past androids enjoy doing the simplest things. These androids aka the future androids are merciless complete evil as the past androids are totally different due to Trunks distorting timelines by traveling to the past. One of the reasons why Jaco freaked out about them casually traveling in time lol

It wasn't mistranslations they actually just changed a lot of dialogue to Americanize the dub. You can tell because of the difference between Goku's super Saiyan speech in Z and Kai. They wanted Goku to be more like Superman when he isn't.

The androids dont lose power thats why they were such a struggle for the Z fighters
