Lenovo's ThinkPad X100e form 2010 went up against a slew of competitors  in the netbook market. It was certainly better in some regards, but was held back in others. But with the right OS, could it still find some usefulness today?

Could this ThinkPad netbook actually be GOOD at retro gaming?

I'm REALLY surprised you have not just one, but TWO 4 GB DDR2 memory sticks. AFAIK those are as rare as unicorns or honest politicians.

The heat is one of my biggest issues with these older laptops. I like netbooks, i wish they t ould return in the mainstream. Last year, i've bought myself a Thinkpad Edge 11, which i wanted to upgrade with a LTE module and install Linux on it. Long story short: It even ran NFS Underground 2 via WINE under Linux absolutely fine, so the AMD iGPU is actually indeed decent, and being dual-core helped a lot. It was faster than your X100e. However, it ran pretty hot, even after applying fresh thermal paste. Browsing even through rather simple sites using adblocker was still painfully slow. Or, not really too slow, but it always came with lots of heat. One could use it as a simple Spotify playback machine and to check mails via Thunderbird. Or use Invidious instances to watch Youtube at 480p without any issues. Eventually, i've sold it. A Pinebook Pro might not have broadband capabilities, is also not very fast, but modern enough to be usable for many productivity use cases - passive-cooed and i can use any USB-C charger. Got it for relatively cheap, overall cheaper than the Edge 11. And i still miss the Edge 11. it had a good port selection and of course, a great keyboard. It so weird, how these netbooks from the last few years are so modern and yet so oldschool enough at the same time, that even RAM and SSD upgrades cannot even help much more.
