For Mac users in the late 1990s, the PowerPC G3 processor heralded a major shift for the platform. Combine that with the whirlwind of new technology, rapid adoption of the Internet and an eye-catching design trend, and it's perhaps no surprise that the era was massively influential for teenagers like myself.

Back in the late 90’s I was using various Windows Laptops for work.. (Yawn) At home my Music Studio was based around an Atari ST running Cubase which was, sort of, a standard bedroom muso’s rig… I decided I needed a new computer and got the slot loading iMac.. I’m shamed to say performance figures, storage capacities etc weren’t involved in my decision making, I just wanted THAT computer.. The odd thing being how easy the change over was.. (Apart from not having MIDI built in)
