I noticed the computer asked if you wanted to format the floppy as single or dual sided, which I think means it believes the disc is not high-density. Is it not reading the hole right either?

Hey Colin, If you want to reinstall macos on the 145, could you try swapping the floppy drive of the machine with one from another PowerBook like the 270 or 280 since they're from the same era and should be identical.

Yeah I kinda think this drive is all sorts of messed up. I've used those floppy disks on other Macs before, so I know it's not the media. There aren't any electrolytic caps on the PowerBook motherboard, so the problem is definitely with the drive.
