My first MP3 player was the CD player in a car I drove in college. The main problem I had was the shuffle function had just a few possible outcomes. My first proper MP3 player was an iPod Nano that I used until I got an iPhone 3g in 2008.

I started out with a 256MB iriver MP3 player https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IRiver_iFP-190TC,1.jpg It couldn't hold much, but my favourite thing about it is i could tape it to the handlebars of my bike. Can't do that with a hard disk!
