Recently, Olympus announced that it was selling off its camera division to an investment group, marking the end of a once-prestigious and well-respected brand. Is this move a sign of things to come for the rest of the industry?

Also, I got into Olympus after my first digital camera (Sony DSC-P30 in 2001) drowned. They were dominant in the superzoom category with cameras capable of 10x and I think even 30x at some point. I stayed with them for 6-7 years until I got my first Nikon DSLR.

Got this playing on my $1.20 mp3 player. My first DSLR was an Olympus Camedia C-1000L, with a 0.8 Mp image sensor, I still have it. I took it out for a day a couple of years ago and was pleasantly surprised at the photos I got. Edit: I posted this to the wrong podcast before.
