We've seen fewer and fewer performance improvements out of each new generation of x86-series processors -- what gains there have been have largely been due to just adding more cores. But another CPU architecture most of us already have in our pockets is set to jump to laptops, desktops and servers very soon, and it's going to be a big deal.

The idea of the Macintosh platform using its fourth CPU architecture is kind of crazy. Having been stuck with one of the late 68k macs well into the PowerPC era, not sure I’d want to buy an Intel Mac right now.
