It was meant as a less-expensive option in Microsoft's fledgling  hardware lineup from 2015, but the Surface 3 wasn't exactly cheap. But  years later, has this 2-in-1 turned into a surprising bargain?

Is Microsoft's Cheap Computer from 2015 Still Usable Today?

Works well given the specs. Price is just right now

Very nice. I was handed down my uncle's first gen Surface Pro (a 10" Core i5). It's tiny and the keyboard isn't great (why do they make half-keys?) but it made for a great travel computer before I had a Lenovo X1 from work. I used the Surface Pro to back up photos from my camera and copy them over to an external hard drive. It was really cool to have a fully featured Windows computer in such a small box.

Yeah, it's really the price that makes it compelling. It's not fast by any means, but it's a much less frustrating experience than a cheap tablet at the same price.

That's exactly what I had in mind with this one...it's awfully convenient for quick tasks like that. I think it could also work really well for media playback, especially on flights since it can be charged through USB (which would be much more common on planes than full AC outlets).
