Interesting. I just got my T420 from 2012 upgraded to 8GB of RAM and a terabyte SSD drive, so I’m on a different end of the hardware spectrum from this. That said, I don’t see much of a reason to get a new laptop, since the one I have meets my video and audio editing needs.

Yeah, for the past 5-6 years at least, progress has been pretty incremental. The latest processor generation does offer a substantial performance boost, but primarily because of increased core count. If your machine still works for you, there's not a whole lot you're missing out on.
