There's been talk of other gaming companies making their own retro mini consoles like the NES Classic...and Sony actually did it. But there's a few things about the PlayStation Classic that seem awfully familiar.

Are they made in China or Japan? Sony could manufacture its own flash storage in-house for negligible costs. Is there going to be a small LCD accessory for this console?

Likely China. Sony seems to only make its professional products (e.g. video production equipment) and some smaller-run or difficult-to-assemble items in Japan these days. Otherwise, most Sony products I've used or seen have been made in China or Malaysia. And a tiny PSOne LCD screen for this would be hilarious!
