The Mac vs (Windows) PC debate continues to rage on, decades after it started. One point that's often raised is that PCs are less expensive. But is this always the case?

Hey Colin, this is unrelated to this post. But in your backlit GBC video at 2:27, you need to tell people that the pin 3 sound chip mod is NOT required for the BennVenn AGS-101 mod. It's a very tricky mod anyways. Just a heads-up. Good video otherwise!

Interesting. There's no written instructions, as far as I can tell, on this mod yet so I had to figure everything out from a video BennVenn posted to Facebook. My understanding is that the pin 3 mod is on a voltage regulator, and that the audio amp is a separate chip. Is this a mod that's often done separately?

Hey Colin, I posted something on here in reply last night, but I guess it didn't take it for some reason. Basically, BennVenn responded, and here is my reply comment that I posted on your video: Hey guys, here's an update on this situation - I spoke with BennVenn (Ben Grimmett) about it: "You don't NEED to do the pin3 mod, it'll just give you a constant buzz/whine and use more power and depending on the GBC version, it wont run flash carts." Essentially, the pin 3 mod is not "required", but it is highly recommended to do it. Seeing how Colin is using a flash cart to run Pokemon Prism on his modded console, the cart is most likely only working because he did the pin 3 mod, so just be aware of that downside if you decide not to do it. That said, in my experience, the hissing noise wasn't any more noticeable than the feedback/hiss that was coming from the speakers before I modded mine, however BennVenn recommends doing the mod anyways. Also, make sure you have the right tools for the job! BV recommends having a clean iron tip on your soldering iron and using flux when un-soldering pin 3. Happy modding, everyone! And let myself or Colin know if you have any questions!
