I have checked 3 skin shaders today.

alShader - very easy to setup, correct, but to long to render and noisy result.

VRaySkinMtl  - hard to setup, not correct, as you can see in examples in attachments it have no red bleeding where it needed, no idea what is wrong, maybe it's me doing something not right, or another bug in vrayforc4d. Anyway, it is very fast to render.

VRay FastSSS2 - not so hard to setup, not so correct, too much bleeding where it not needed, this is possible to fix with hand painted masks for problematic areas. 30% slower to render then VRaySkinMtl, no idea why, probably another bug in vrayforc4d, still waiting for servise release with bug fixes and new features, for more then six months now...

I think I will stay with old good VRay FastSSS2.

Hiya mate, don't waste too much time trying with buggy software and waiting for fixes. If possible do it with the old working version and look from time to time for a update. Or is there also a problem with the old version?

VRaySkinMtl looks best imo.

I actually quite like both the VRaySkinMtl and the VRay FastSSS2, however I feel with those examples that the VRay FastSSS2 looks slightly like plastic skin, but maybe the right lighting will change that. To be honest I preferred some of the older skin maps, particularly GF2 on Lorelei, but I do understand the need for change. I'm not sure on how I can help here, only to pass along the advice of not to get too bogged down with making changes. You don't want to go slow, but you shouldn't go too fast either. I am glad you are asking us for help. ^_^
