Meanwhile, back in the exhibition hall, Kim was in the middle of a fight while Minako competed on a mat to the left of her. Kim was not as experienced as the other Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighters, and she made some mistakes that her opponent was able to capitalize on.

Her fight ended before Minako's as Kim's opponent locked her into a shoulder crunch. Although Kim managed to roll her opponent off, it wasn't long before she found herself eventually submitting to a heel hook.

The redhead looked dejected, sitting on the mat, holding her ankle as she watched her opponent celebrate. Minako rushed over, finishing her fight to advance to the next round. Placing her hand on Kim's shoulder to comfort her.

"At least you gave it an shot" She tried to cheer Kimberly up, helping her off the mat to go back to the benches. Unscrewing the cap to her bottled water, she took a sip as her eyes dartedaround, still trying to look out for her mother.

Kim nudged her, almost knocking the drink out of her hands. "Don't tell me your nerves are finally getting the best of you now?" Kimberly asked, curious as to what was bothering Minako.

"Mom's not back yet. She promised me she'd be here to watch my fights. I should have known she wouldn't bother...part of me hoped it would be different this time. But, no! Never showed up for my classes, let alone any other damn tournament." She screwed the lid back onto her bottle and tossed it into her backpack, frustrated.

She released a furious sigh. "Sorry. I know. I should focus on my fights..."

Kim blinked at her friend, then chuckled to herself. "Damn right, you should focus on the fights. Since I've got nothing better to do now...I'll focus on getting your Mom back here to watch you. Even if I have to drag her! And yes, even if she has to hit me with a shoe or something." Minako's eyes widened, looking back to Kim.

"For real?"

"For real! I'm just glad she missed my piss poor performance." Kim laughed with Minako.

"You did suck." Minako's smile returned, teasing her friend.

"Just focus on winning, yeah?" Kim stood herself up, tossing her hoodie back on before zipping it up. "I've got this," she reassured as she left Minako alone to continue the tournament. Passing the guards on the way out of the exhibition hall. One guard speaking into their comms "What about her?" he waited for a response before turning to the other guard. "Don't bother. She's not worth the effort."
