In other words, the group that was meant to be one of Elena's main adverseries, which Emily would have unwittingly caused the creation of through her defeat of the Iron Chain.

Naturally as most bad guys do, he couldn't help but take an interest in the cutest of the two (Emily), which would give Elena the chance to undo her bonds and give him a swift boot to the head, finally putting those muscular legs of hers to good use.
