Happy August, everyone! Well, everyone but Patreon, who dropped the ball real bad on August 1st when processing charges.

Several patrons had their cards declined and even pinged for fraudulent charges because Patreon has updated their payment system, which is setting off red flags for cards. This is an easy fix, updating your payment info and having it charge again should do the trick, but many creators have taken a hit to their pledges, between 20% to 60%...turning this into an all around mess.

To put it into perspective, there were over 420 patrons here last month, and now we're in the 330's. When I say "blaze it" I don't mean burn my patrons. Ugh. I wish I could laugh.

I want to personally apologize to anyone who had to deal with their bank over these charges, or had their card frozen or anything like that. Recently I had to deal with my card being froze and it's just not fun. Even if it's an easy fix, it doesn't undo those moments of panic and frustration, and I recognize that it really, really sucks.

I don't know where this leaves my relationship with Patreon. Obviously, this service, when working right, is incredible. However, they've shown time and again that they'll shoot themselves, and their creators, in the foot. This should have been avoidable.

I'm not sure how I'll get the word out about this, not everyone follows my Twitter and you all are likely well aware how great Tumblr is at showing you relevant posts...so...yeah.

Again, I'm sorry for the mess. Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and I'm sorry we keep having to have these conversations when Patreon sits quietly.

Having am email list might be a good idea. That way you can contact everyone with a newsletter and it's a direct link to your fans since social media keeps shitting the bed.

Luckily there were no problems on my end. But I hope everyone is ok, it sucks to hear something like that.
