Adrien and Luka’s backstory

Adrien and Luka knew each other ever since they were teenagers. After his mother’s disappearance Luka volunteered to be assigned as Adrien’s guardian and personal servant to provide for himself and his sister a safe place to live. He cheated his way into the palace but Gabriel still allowed him to stay as Adrien’s guardian, impressed by Luka’s powers and abilities .

At first Luka really disliked the Agreste family because he was forced to serve a boy younger that him and chain himself to his side. It didn’t sit well with his freedom loving nature and the first couple of months Luka was acting very distant and cold towards Adrien, who on the contrary was fascinated by his new ‘friend’. Luka insisted they’re not friends and Gabriel constantly reminded Adrien that lower class demons aren't worthy of that status. Especially demons with ‘tainted blood’, since Luka inherited Undine blood from his mother.

However despite all his efforts, Luka couldn’t stay indifferent towards Adrien for too long. Adrien was too kind and sweet and Luka never understood how he turned out this way despite being raised in such a hostile and vapid environment.

At that time Adrien was still very fragile after his mother’s death and he desperately clung to Luka whom he genuinely considered his friend despite being very well aware that Luka wasn’t very excited about that. But as the time went by, Luka grew more fond of the shapeshifting demon and eventually grew attached to the spoiled, capricious but heartbreakingly kind and melancholic blonde.

Touch starved and lonely, Adrien was always very handsy towards Luka, and at some point the latter started staying the nights in Adrien’s bedroom, cuddling the cat demon to sleep.
