Got around to finally making some more Weiss! I'd like to imagine that the scene is set at the end of Vol 3. with the Grimm rampant and things just don't turn out for Weiss. speaking of which, I feel I've found a way around her palette for me to see her shading but still maintain that lightness that she has. for her skin tone, i just went to more of a pinkish route instead of a light tan route since i can't usually recognize the hues in that direction on my tablet :P the only real difficulty here was creating her patterning on her dress x) as for the Grimm, i got to use the new one announced at RTX for Vol 4. the Beringel! and i used my Minotaur one with some adjustments here and there to look more Grimm-like. also i noticed from my last picture involving a Grimm, i wasnt too satisfied with the coloration, specifically in shading. it seemed too "blue" and didnt feel "boney" or "visceral" at all now that i had a second chance to look at it.

it looked way too plastic with the noticeable shines and the blue shades. so for this, i went to a desaturated route, minimal lighting on the bone plates and if there were lights, i made sure to blend it rather than provide shape to it, and also added a bit of extra texture of dimples and scratches on the plating which i hope translates well aesthetically :3 the symmetry for Weiss was such a pain for some reason i dont know why D: even when i copied one half and flipped it, it just looked so wonky so this took a bit of time just flipping the image back and forth to find out what the hell i was doing wrong x) also for the wet bits, i usually have a debate in my head whether i should use a multiply layer to create this "dark sheen" for where the wet marks were at but instead, i wanted to rely on the shines itself since the shine usually can emphasize the colors and edges of the wetness itself so i can preserve the colors. so from now on i think ill stick to that but i may change my mind again down the road.

i was a bit worried for this piece since the focal character is somewhat small in contrast to the canvas and the sweat marks or drooly bits are diminished sometimes because of it so in this i tried to emphasize it as much as i can so hopefully that is as visible as it is as well. As for now, i think that's all i can think of on how this piece went down :o on to the next!
