Important: How to get custom art (Patreon)

Hi ^^ After more than one year of Patreon and drawing custom pictures for subscribers in the form of rotating requests, I believe I have enough hindsight to fix some of the flaws of the system. If you are subscribed at $30 or more, or if you are interested in getting a commission from me, please read at least the first section below.

If you just want one normal illustration every 4 months in continuation of the rotating requests, almost nothing will change for you.

What is the new system?

Each month, people pledged at $30 get 2 tokens. People pledged at $50 get 3 tokens & their pictures will be worked on in priority. Then, subscribers can buy commissions from me, where prices are expressed in tokens. A count of tokens will be kept in an easily accessible document.

Example: You are pledged to $30 for two months, so you have 4 tokens. A colored sketch costs 4 tokens, so during the second month, you can send me a message (on Patreon, Deviantart or Discord) to tell me what you want. Then I will draw it as soon as possible.

What differences with the rotating requests?

People subscribed at $50 get more tokens per month, so it's like accelerating rotating requests. People at that tier will get 9 tokens in 3 months, so they can afford one normal, fully colored drawing every 3 months. People at $30 won't see a difference, they get one fully colored drawing every 4 months, like with the old system.

The one major difference is that you can only get something that you already paid for. Instead of giving me an idea in the very first few months and I draw it slowly over the course of 4 months, you give me an idea as soon as you saved up the tokens. I assume that it will be more fun for you if I can send you a sketch, and within a day or two of it being approved I can deliver a finished picture. In the current system, the first month I do just sketches, then I just go through weeks of doing just lineart and then just colors. In the new system, as soon as I get the idea I can finish it as fast as my drawing skills allow.

Why need a new system?

I love producing custom art and trying my best to be accessible so everyone can see their ideas in my drawings. I do not intend to lower my output, but there are some heavy flaws in the rotating requests system.

First, the batch system is immediately inefficient when someone signs up or unpledges in the middle of a batch. The old system forced everyone to be adhering to the same months when batches start and end, and every exception was a problem. In the new system, every single subscriber will advance on its own timeline, starting and ending whenever is convenient for them and them alone. If a person signs up for one month, unpledges, signs up again for one month one year later, their first month's tokens would still be waiting for them, and they could afford a colored sketch for 4 tokens.

I say "every 4 months, I ask everyone to give an idea and I will draw every single one", but when someone paid only one or two months and I draw just a sketch, the person gets upset. If on the contrary i draw them a full picture, it's unfair to people who paid more for the same service. It opens me to scamming, too. When I finished a drawing in two or three months, the subscriber sometimes immediately unpledged, thus paying me a lot less for the same amount of labor.

The new system will directly correlate the content of the picture instead of a vague "I will draw an idea for you". It will spread out the work to be done more. I also hope that it will encourage people who think they can't afford to commission me to sign up for a month or two to get their OCs or their fan fantasies illustrated! I want everyone to have a chance, and I want to keep this lively ^^

I also reserve myself the right to offer free labor if I want to. Everyone will get what they chose to subscribe for, guaranteed, but sometimes I might add simple colors or a complex background simply because I think it improves the picture, and I felt like it. In particular, I hope that I will receive more orders for sketches, and I expect I'll often add colors to sketches because it's rather fast and fun to do.

One hour of slavestream = 2 tokens ($30)

Sketch = 2 tokens ($30)

Colored sketch = 4 tokens ($60)

Full cell-shaded illustration = 8 tokens ($120)

Full painting = 8 tokens ($120)

Sketched 10-panel comic = 8 tokens ($120)

Fully colored 10-panel comic = 16 tokens ($240)

If you do not want to pay for a finished picture all at once, you can divide the drawing process into sketching/lining/coloring/painting. Slavestream is a time when you watch me on stream in real time (or you can send me a list of characters and ideas without needing to be there) and you command what you want me to draw. I recommend doing fast and fun sketches, where I can bring a lot of different macro ideas into existence under your eyes.

Sketch alone = 2 tokens ($30)

Lineart alone = 4 tokens ($60)

Complex background alone = 2 tokens ($30)

Cell-shading colors alone = 2 tokens ($30)

Painting characters alone = 4 tokens ($60)

Cell-shading colors refers to my usual anime style, and painting refers to a more complex style I can illustrate below. Both are different coloring methods, you can't have both in one picture. Both coloring options include a basic background. Keep in mind that BOTH lining and coloring/painting require a sketch first. I cannot paint without having a sketch to paint over.

You are free to ask for just one of those, or any number you like. For instance, if you already have a sketch and you only want me to line it, it'll be 4 tokens. If you just want colors added, that'd be just 2 tokens.
