The Big Thaw Alpha 20 Patreons Release (Patreon)

This month has be mostly wasted wrangling a version of Big Thaw that actually mostly runs. I discovered that the KAG, scripting engine that Tyranobuilder relies on, has actually been broken in TB for literally years. I hadn't been bit by this bug because previous updates to Tyrano didn't force me to update the KAG script. The Tyranobuilder 2.0 update did. That's why simple rolling back to the last build of the TB engine just made matters worse. 

What I ended up doling is rolling back through 4 version of TB before I found a working version of KAG. That's over 2 years old. Rolling back that far brought back a bunch of TB bugs that I'd stopped avoiding. The one you would notice is the game freezing up in sex encounters with a white screen. That's because the older version of TB crashes if you use the command to stop an animation when one isn't actually playing. This almost always triggers if you skip through a sex encounter quickly. It's really easy to trigger the bug in the online versions as it takes a few seconds for the animation to start.

So I've written my own scripts to start and stop the animated sequences that have a built in tracker of when an animation is really playing. This avoids the bug of accidentally stopping a not-playing animation. This involved editing over 700 instances of starting and stopping animations. I no doubt fucked some of them up. I've tried to test all the game play threads but there are too many combinations. If you get white screened just load the auto save and you will pick up right before it got stuck. And, please if you get stuck message me with what you were doing when it froze. That will help me hunt bugs.

To preserve your save games do not uninstall. Simply over write you previous version with the new one. This will perform and upgrade install. Saves from previous versions will trigger a warning. If the save is from Alpha 19 it should work. Older versions will likely not.
