also idk if it's just me being "pam blind" but i think there were a lot of other issues outside of just pam stacked against karen and jim. like, the two of them never seemed to be on the same page in regard to anything. and it always seemed like more of a casual thing. even when she had him stay up all night several nights to talk, things just still felt more like they were hookup buddies than a romantic couple. maybe that was the writers intent. but even with jim talking over her on the phone with david in beach games, and their "banter" in the car ride, it just felt very much moreso like buds, than a romance, if that makes sense. i know all couples are different etc. but still. also, idk...if i knew my man was a bit nervous and had a big job interview, and i was there with him under the circumstance, i wouldn't just leave. i'd be like "no that's okay, i can wait for you." or i'd at least sit with him until he got called back and be like "once you get called in, then i'll go meet up with XYZ." but maybe that's just me. i usually am the one to sit with others while they wait for a nervous phone call or something like that. i feel like the writers really thought they were doing something with karen's writing this episode. the entire time i've had zero issues with her, but this episode it felt different. like when she called pam a bitch, and said not to feel sorry for jan having what seemed to be some sort of breakdown. it felt like this entire time they have been actively trying to make her NOT dislikable but this episode in particular i found myself not really vibing with her the same and i wish the writers hadn't really done that and kept it more consistent. i'm curious if anyone else picked up on that.

Disagree with the first paragraph I think they seem like more than just buds but agree with the second paragraph I think they made Karen purposefully seem a bit cold with the taking some type of glee in Jan's downfall and leaving Jim in the lobby pretty easily. However I'd say Karen is perfectly justified in making a comment about Pam given what Pam has done from Karen's perspective.

With karen/pam I genuinely respect and approve of Pam for her initiative/boldness in "beach games" and simultaneously genuinely agree with Karen that she's a certain type of person for doing what she did lol

Jim was never really that in to Karen. She was a rebound and she definitely came on to him first. Jim never thought he'd go back to Scranton again, let alone have to work with Pam again while she was single. He was trying to move on like a normal person does and the stars aligned and he wound up in the worst place for him to be when it comes to Karen. Nobody did anything wrong. You're wasting your life if you don't follow your heart and the things that truly make you happy. It would be insane and foolish to stick with someone you clearly don't have that strong of a connection with when the door is wide open for lifelong happiness with a real connection right there in front of you.
