I love this movie!! And I think it's a really great movie as well. I've seen it a couple of times though. The first time I saw it it was really tense and I couldn't really enjoy it as a movie because I was constantly wainting for someone to get shot or blown up. Couldn't really focus. The second and third time I got so much more out of it. (4 oscars in 1986. Best picture, director, sound and editing). Personally I thought the cinematography was especially great. And the score of course but the best piece of music (Adagio for Strings) wasn't written especially for the movie. Still a masterpiece. And I know most people laugh about Charlie Sheen nowadays...but back then man he was so good in this movie. Johnny Depp in one of his earliest roles, before he became famous. ❤ Willem Dafoe and Tom Berenger both killed it.

I'm with you. One of my all time favorites. Not glorifying war, but this one just has the most impact and feel of combat or through a soldier's eyes that I connect with.

I don't know if you noticed this, but the guy playing the Captain is Dale Dye aka Col Sink in Band of Brothers. Dye was a Marine Corps veteran who founded a company to help improve the realism in war movies. Platoon was his first big project and he of course later helped with Band of Brothers and the Pacific.
