Season 4 is the best season of the show, one of my favorite seasons ever. And it managed to accomplish that without the brilliant main character. Somehow the show even got better. And then it also managed to stuck the landing. I can't think of another show who did all of this as successfully as this one. It truly deserves S-tier.

This show has alway felt very Shakespearean. And it should also end this way. 👍👍

I heard about this on the Ringer Prestige TV podcast this morning: https://dnyuz.com/2023/05/29/who-was-bill-wambsganss-and-was-he-a-succession-spoiler/ "The clues were there for some, thanks to Bill Wambsganss, a second baseman for Cleveland from 1914 to 1923. Wambsganss didn’t hit much, and there’s little indication he was a stellar base runner or a top-notch fielder. But he had one moment of pure glory, turning the first — and only — unassisted triple play in World Series history." Tom took out the Roy sibs, all three at once. And in episode one, Tom is the one who tags out that kid Roman was going to pay a million bucks to if he hit a home run.

Shiv's not wrong. Kendall would not be good at it. And Roman got the real clarity - just like their dad basically said - not serious people.

At least there's no real downside haha. Everyone is still rich anyway. But I do feel bad for Ken. I mean he's worked his entire life for something and it's done. That sucks

Oh Shiv…. You just had to shiv Kendall in the back on the one yard line of getting this done. The show is great because it gives you so much hope but also has given the audience so many examples of Kendall losing it but you still hope. I am happy for Greg that Tom showed some mercy in the end. So many great call backs and writing on the wall moments for what happened. Will definitely miss this show.

Just When I Thought I Was Out...

Roman on the table talking to Kendall is the show "we're bullshit". And with that he ends up back at the bar, just the rich playboy he was at the start of the show. He tried being a "serious person" for a few years, didn't work out, and is where he started. He was always the kid who recognized who he was and what they are the most, and does in that room there. Shiv probably thought to have any chance of at least a Bill & Hilary thing, this is the way it had to go. Also, besides the huge payout, this keeps her close and sets up her kid as a future CEO possibility. Which makes her then, finally, her own mother. And for Kendall, unfortunately this was his life. That promise at 7 screwed him forever. Logan's real successor is not Tom, it's Matsson. Tom is his Greg (and he'll keep his own). But that is okay for him, he knows how to be a Greg, he always has been one, and he got what he wanted. He understands the game. He's around, and he'll take the hits like most modern mediocre white CEO's do. Kids did not. Also, the big hint that it was him was at the funeral when Shiv tells Lukas he wasn't there he's working. Which is linked to what Kendall did in the pilot, where he went to his dad's b-day instead of working like his dad wanted. The right place to end it as tragic as it is (although I wouldn't hate a Frank & Karl check in every once in a while). To me I don't know where it ends up, I have Sopranos (agree mostly about Vito, disagree about AJ) and then a top tier with like almost ten below that are a lot of the same and it's definitely there, but I definitely do think this is one of the best acted shows. I think Tony Soprano is the best tv performance, but this show has like 5 of those, plus all the minor characters also, only Mad Men rivals it maybe. And has the best score out of all the best shows I think, the music is so good.

Top 3 shows of all time after this!! Also! now you're done hope you'll check out 'the thick of it', the creator of succession is a lead writer on it and you can def see similarities in style, it's more just straight satire and comedy, but very chaotic and neurotic with some all time, hilarious, competent, and very incompetent characters.
