all three main actors were 19 and 20 when they made the movie....so not too far off... 😂

you've seen Logan Lerman (Charlie) in Fury, as one of Mel Gibsons sons in The Patriot - and as Christian Bale's son in 3:10 to yuma. (last one was a pretty big role)

I read the book a long time ago and loved it. It's intresting that the guy who wrote the book also wrote AND directed this movie. That doesn't happen very often but I guess it's one of the reasons why the movie works just as great as the book.

I left my job (before I'd most certainly have lost it anyway) as a High School Librarian over this book. The Principal and a group of parents wanted it banned and removed. I told them they'd have to follow county procedure by reading the book first and filling out forms outlining and documenting their objections as to why NO student (not just their own kids...that process is as simple as telling me what books your underage kid is not allowed to check out) should be allowed to read it. They refused. The principal tried to pretend to comply by checking out our only copy and repeatedly saying that he'll "get to it eventually." .... So I bought 8 more copies myself and donated them, which was perfectly within our rules as the book was still technically in our catalog and so no approvals were needed. Longer story short: I quit, alerted the press and ACLU, and that principal was fired the next year (for more than just that incident...but it surely factored in.)
