Amazing reaction, as always. One of the best episodes so far and "Maybe it will fix his stupid walk" was definitely my favourite line yet:D Opie dying, Jax "turning", Tara and Gemma's beef heating up...loads that happened in this episode. But above all I was actually surprised that you didn't comment on the fact that Happy of all people was playing with Jax's kids haha. That was a great touch (I love Happy) Appreciate you mentioning how consistent Gemma's character is. She really is well written from a character POV. She is indeed a "complete piece of garbage". But she actually doesn't love her family. She doesn't love anyone. Pathological narcissists are incapable of love. To them, people are just objects and they only "care" about their perceived value of those objects. They don't actually bond with or have empathy for people. What makes them very dangerous is that while they value someone highly, they will make that person feel like they mean the world to them. But since pathological narcissists don't actually empathically bond with people...they will devalue and drop you in the blink of an eye the second you stop being beneficial/lose your perceived value. A good example of that, using Gemma, is how when Unser acted against her/the clubs interests just once because he more or less had to and was even kind enough to give Gemma a heads up, in season 3, she kindly responded by immediately threatened him with losing their friendship. You can tell, in Gemma's case, how people are just pawns to her and how "family" is just her construct she uses, by how flexible she is with her "love" for her family. She didn't mind conspiring to murder the father of her son. She also didn't mind tempting her grandson's mother to commit suicide. She manipulates and uses her own son and grandchildren like chess pieces all the time. She never actually cares for what other people (including Jax) actually want and only cares about what she wants from them/what she wants them to be etc. Every person is a card. Every relationship is a poker chip. She's a complete piece of garbage. Full stop. That said...she has a personality disorder - one that is part of the dark triad, so there's no real point judging her too much. She's practically incapable of being a good person.
