Long story short, gonna swap the 20th and 23rd and I noticed a groundswell (because I’m a man of the ppl) of wanting some not so usual movies as of late. Watching this one by me lonesome.

So what do you got?

Wind River or Hell or High Water. Same guy who wrote Sicario. Not sure if these are the kind of thing you were thinking of but they bith are must watch IMO

Michael Kang-Beats

Have you seen Any Given Sunday? Friday Night Lights?

Michal Nielsen

hmm kalifornia maybe. An old and slightly obscure early movie with Fox Mulder :-) and Brad Pitt (I think might actually had been Brad's first billing as a co-lead)

Tim Itnyre

You should check out Lord of War. It's a much more serious performance by Nicholas Cage and a character that I think you'll be totally fascinated by.

Ted Cali

Look, Michael Keaton is officially, finally back to play Batman. I know I’ve pitched this before, but there has never been a more relevant time to watch Birdman. And y’know, it’s a fantastic movie, his career best performance, etc.

"Watching this one by me lonesome." Sorry to be a broken record but this is a FANTASTIC opportunity to watch Miller's Crossing under ideal circumstances (i.e., alone) so I'm suggesting it. There's NO WAY Dummy would have the attention span necessary for that film. I do believe, if you were to ever watch it with him, it would detract from the experience significantly (because I think the main character was written specifically for you, Jimmy.) And, in terms of "usual movies", you would be the first reactor to react to it. So there's that too...

Jamie Roberts

Dead Man’s shoes is a great British revenge film you might like

MrEvers

"Weekend at Bernie's" for a weird comedy "Dark City" for a Matrix-like mindf*ck "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain" (or just "Amelie") French romantic avantgarde cinema

Ninaofthe90s

The Hunt,(2012) it's a very slow but intense Danish movie and it has subtitles so I don't think Cash would like that

Ninaofthe90s

I actually think this is a movie he can watch with Cash, so I thought I'd suggest it next month. 😉 Or what do you think?

Daniel Lopez

25th hour or sleepers would be awesome. Stronger preference for sleepers

Jed U

Maybe Akira or Ghost in the Shell? Don't think Cash would up for any anime type stuff so this might be a good chance for something like that

Collector of Stuff

Not sure if you have done it, mostly because I am too lazy to go back and look, Mystery Men.

I saw the Devil(2010) Korean movie.

Death of Stalin will always be my vote. It’s going to be hilarious and dummy would enjoy it so it can be seen either alone or together. Political scheming and hilarious incompetence abound

Here's my selection: *The Abyss* - 1989 Director's Cut. Arguably the most underrated film James Cameron has made. The technical skills needed to shoot this movie back in 89 was insane. Not to mention the studio wanted to pull the plug on what they thought was a disaster waiting to happen. After watching this movie, there's a great behind the scenes on how they made this film that's also worth the watch. That aside, this is a great movie on its own. Led by Ed Harris and a fantastic supporting cast, it's truly an original and gripping story about the deep sea. *The Outlaws* 2017 - A really popular gangster movie that came out in KR. It's based on real events that happened between 2 rival korean gangster outfit going to war. Led by Don Lee (the big dude from Train to Busan and Gilgamesh in the upcoming Eternals movie). The story starts small and it escalates into a full blown war between native korean gangs and the chinese/kr outfits. Excellent villain, great cast, just entertaining as fk. *Election* -1999 Call it a spiritual successor to Ferris Bueller's day off. Starring Reese Wheatherspoon, and Matthew Broderick. It's dark comedy at its finest. *Contact* -1997 Sci fi starring Jodie Foster, Matthew Mcconaughey, Interstellar before Interstellar. *New World*-2013 Yep, still going to be plugging this movie. The best gangster movie KR has made. It's got an ensemble cast, an adaptation of a popular CN movie, it's Korea's version of The Departed. *Rounders* Matt Damon, Edward Norton, John Turturro, poker, and even my childhood crush is in a cameo the hot Famke Janssen. If you like poker, this is a must watch. *Source Code* Jake Gyllenhall is leading this really interesting sci fi, I've yet to see a bad movie from this guy. *The Grandmaster* You saw "practical" fighting in the Raid, then you saw unrealistic wire fu from Crouching Tiger hidden Dragon. This is a hybrid of both. It's still beautiful Wire-Fu, but the martial arts depicted are actual martial arts from real life. The actor trained all year long to do the stunt work justice. Led by Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, it's perhaps the most beautifully shot martial arts movie ever. If you do watch it, make sure you get the Chinese Edit (the longest version at 130 min). It's not just a matter of cutting stuff in the other version, they actually flipped some scenes around, it's a mess. *Avatar* - Don't listen to the haters about how it's not an original story from a bunch of hypocrites. Everything in Hollywood is a remake/reboot of something. The themes are familiar but it's still a great movie, despite some cringy writing at times. Why? Because nobody on Earth can shoot an action movie like James mother@# Cameron. Also if this dude spends 200M, the movie feels like a 200M movie, some thing a lot of directors could learn from. It's not going to win an oscar any time soon, but it's fun and considering there's 3 more on the way, might as well see what the fuss is all about. Copying my recs and deleting the ones you watch, sooner or later it'll all be removed hopefully.

25th Hour is my 2nd favorite Spike Lee movie - behind Malcolm X. Jimmy being a New Yorker makes it especially worthwhile.

I saw kalifornia mentioned, good movie. Birdman is amazing if you're looking for a performance based film. I'm going to suggest 'Felon' with Val Kilmer or 'This is England'
