Apparently, there's a Witcher animated movie I need to see so that'll probably take up one of the spots.

I'm also in a Kurt Russell groove 🤔

Absolutely 'Kick Ass' since you said you've never seen it!

Hereditary please

Id love to see you watch one cut of the dead or zombieland if you haven't seen them

KapZachlan

Witcher anime is deff a fun one. If you’ve never seen “Where Eagles Dare”, it’s an older Clint Eastwood movie. It got named dropped in episode 1 of What If. “True Legend” is also a fun Kung fu flick too

KapZachlan

One of the best movies I’ve ever seen, that I’ve been too scared to watch again since hahaha

Krieger

I’ll post Death of Stalin again, I know we got a little gang here that has been hoping this is finally the month

Ninaofthe90s

I have two: First "The Hunt". Not the one from last year Jimmy, but the danish masterpiece from 2012. Mads Mikkelsen's best performance - one of my favorite performances ever. And I have seen many of his movies, especially the ones from Denmark. Not an easy watch, but you have to see it! And 2nd: Since you have watched Eastern Promises by David Cronenberg recently - I'd suggest you watch the other one he did 5 years earlier with Viggo Mortensen. Called "A History of Violence" from 2004. Both of them are really great!

Andy Berwick

Bone Tomahawk is fantastic and features an older Kurt Russell on top form with bonus points for Matthew Fox (ya boy Jack Locke)

Resubmiting unused older suggestions of mine. Jimmy, if any of these are definitely "no: and I should stop cluttering these posts with them monthly let me know, otherwise I'm gonna keep suggesting 'em! =) Maverick (1994), an adventure/western/action/comedy adapting the 1957 tv show of the same name, about a slick, fast talking gambler and his misadventures attempting to acquire the entrance fee to a major poker tournament.  Stars Mel Gibson, with Jodie Foster, Alfred Molina, and James Garner.  A personal favorite from my youth. Clue (1985), a who's who of 80s comedy talent does a wacky murder whodunnit based on the board game Speed Racer (2008), the Wachowski siblings campy bright kinetic action packed fun adaptation of the children's anime?  One of my favs. The King of Kong:  A Fistful of Quarters (2007), throwing a curveball:  a documentary.  It's pretty funny, about some super strange real life characters.  Talks about competitive arcade gaming, specifically a big fight over the world record for donkey kong.  It's a strange tale of underdogs, villains, and absurdity. Contagion (2011), Steven Soderbergh's star studded tense thriller about a worldwide epidemic which, while a significantly worse plague than our real pandemic, ended up being prescient in certain ways about the reality of last year and today. John Carpenter's Escape from New York (1981), the beginning of the Carpenter / Kurt Russell trilogy before 1982's The Thing and 1986's Big Trouble in Little China. An over the top campy action scifi movie about Kurt's antihero Snake Plissken infiltrating a "future 1997" NYC that has become a giant prison (think Arkham City game), to save the President. It's the best kind of absurd. Miller's Crossing (1990). A mob movie by the Coen brothers. Nuff said, right?

Callum

Id love to see you react to any of my top 5 (tho some of them may not not your things of course lol) Kikis delivery service Your name Billy Elliot Little women 2019 The original karate kid

Bone Tomahawk (Kurt Russell) Blade Runner (1982 - The Final Cut version, Harrison Ford) Patriot Games (1992 - Jack Ryan series, Harrison Ford) Clear and Present Danger (1995 - Jack Ryan series, Harrison Ford) Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010 - Alan Tudyk) The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007)

Daniel Lopez

Sleepers (great cast, well done movie, may be a bit heavy in the topic), 25th hour (also good cast and ed Norton does a good job with this movie I think).

Brian Darty

I’m down for more Mel Gibson..so Ransom and Edge of Darkness would be pretty good.

Michael

I auditioned to play one of the main kids for Sleepers back in grade school! Too fat=)

Here's my selection: *The Abyss* - 1989 Director's Cut. Arguably the most underrated film James Cameron has made. The technical skills needed to shoot this movie back in 89 was insane. Not to mention the studio wanted to pull the plug on what they thought was a disaster waiting to happen. After watching this movie, there's a great behind the scenes on how they made this film that's also worth the watch. That aside, this is a great movie on its own. Led by Ed Harris and a fantastic supporting cast, it's truly an original and gripping story about the deep sea. *The Outlaws* 2017 - A really popular gangster movie that came out in KR. It's based on real events that happened between 2 rival korean gangster outfit going to war. Led by Don Lee (the big dude from Train to Busan and Gilgamesh in the upcoming Eternals movie). The story starts small and it escalates into a full blown war between native korean gangs and the chinese/kr outfits. Excellent villain, great cast, just entertaining as fk. *Election* -1999 Call it a spiritual successor to Ferris Bueller's day off. Starring Reese Wheatherspoon, and Matthew Broderick. It's dark comedy at its finest. *Contact* -1997 Sci fi starring Jodie Foster, Matthew Mcconaughey, Interstellar before Interstellar. *New World*-2013 Yep, still going to be plugging this movie. The best gangster movie KR has made. It's got an ensemble cast, an adaptation of a popular CN movie, it's Korea's version of The Departed. *Rounders* Matt Damon, Edward Norton, John Turturro, poker, and even my childhood crush is in a cameo the hot Famke Janssen. If you like poker, this is a must watch. *Source Code* Jake Gyllenhall is leading this really interesting sci fi, I've yet to see a bad movie from this guy. *The Grandmaster* You saw "practical" fighting in the Raid, then you saw unrealistic wire fu from Crouching Tiger hidden Dragon. This is a hybrid of both. It's still beautiful Wire-Fu, but the martial arts depicted are actual martial arts from real life. The actor trained all year long to do the stunt work justice. Led by Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, it's perhaps the most beautifully shot martial arts movie ever. If you do watch it, make sure you get the Chinese Edit (the longest version at 130 min). It's not just a matter of cutting stuff in the other version, they actually flipped some scenes around, it's a mess. *The Martian* - Surprised this wasn't already on your watched list as well. Based on a popular novel and starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, it's a great adaptation of the novel. *Avatar* - Don't listen to the haters about how it's not an original story from a bunch of hypocrites. Everything in Hollywood is a remake/reboot of something. The themes are familiar but it's still a great movie, despite some cringy writing at times. Why? Because nobody on Earth can shoot an action movie like James mother@# Cameron. Also if this dude spends 200M, the movie feels like a 200M movie, some thing a lot of directors could learn from. It's not going to win an oscar any time soon, but it's fun and considering there's 3 more on the way, might as well see what the fuss is all about. Copying my recs and deleting the ones you watch, sooner or later it'll all be removed hopefully.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

I have only one this month: Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995) - Andy Garcia, Christopher Lloyd, Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi (and a bunch of other people you recognize.) It was nice to see Andy get so much love last month; he's great. Well, this is his magnum opus! An absolutely fantastic gangster flick. Practically nobody has seen it but I guarantee a winner with this one! C'mon y'all, take a chance! Jimmy and Dummy will thank you for it :)

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Indeed. If Jimmy is interested in another Kurt Russel flick this month then, to quote Tormund Giantsbane: This is the way.

HermitM

They Live (1988) - John Carpenter has been well-received so far and I think you'll like this one, too. It spawned a bunch of memes you've probably seen. Escape from New York (1982) - Another John Carpenter film that also stars Kurt Russell. Conan the Barbarian (1982) - This one is a roll of the dice but I think you'll like it more than not. Some parts might seem overly sentimental in that 80's way but it fits the operatic nature of the film. It also made the actor who plays the protagonist internationally famous (no spoilers). And the score is outstanding.

Airplane (1980), Top Secret (1984), The Naked Gun (1988) : Comedy classics with the great late Leslie Nielsen. Cape Fear (1991) : a remake of a 50s thriller by Martin Scorsese with a marvellous De Niro as a crazy psycho. Ronin (1998) : an action flick with Robert De Niro again, unofficially written by David Mamet (but if you watch it it is clearly written by him) that has great car chases and is very well directed. Unbreakable (2000) : A superhero movie shot like an extremely well-crafted drama that features one of the best performances from Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. In the Mouth of Madness (1994) : my favorite John Carpenter picture that is I think a bit underrated but deserves to be seen by everyone. Awesome Sam Neill in this. Hard Boiled (1992) : An action movie from Hong Kong. The best John Woo movie. Considered by many (me included) to be one of the best action movies ever made.

Can't believe you haven't seen Kick-Ass, that's a must watch. I'd also recommend 'Felon', a top prison movie with Val Kilmer, some great performances. This is England is another fantastic movie

Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Role Models

Have you seen Scott Pilgrim vs the world? If not, I vote for that. Or even Kick-ass. It's...entertaining, that's for sure 😂

Drew

*Fury* (you'll love this) , I saw the Devil, Beowulf, The Martian

I can do Kurt All day! Fav Kurt movies: ** Executive Descion! ** Fun. A thriller film… and action film, cause duh 90s popcorn action flicks were the best. Halle Berry, whom I love. Seagal. Oliver Platt. Bunch fun 90s actors. (marcus like this I think) **Overboard** Comedy Classic. 80s required classic viewing. I grew up to it. prob top 2or 3 his most iconic roles **escape from NY, ** I didn’t “love” but like it tho—its got a sorta cult love from the era late 80s.

Aiden Howatson

End of Watch - A really well acted, funny and realistic cop movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena

Aiden Howatson

Hell or High Water - Amazing bank robbery movie starring Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster

Aiden Howatson

This is England - Great movie about Skinheads just before the movement was co-opted by racists. Amazing acting especially from Stephen Graham

I'm gonna throw a vote at Bone Tomahawk too. Haven't seen it but it has Kurt Russell and tomahawks so I'm sold. Also 'Four Lions', one of the most memorable comedies I've ever watched

I must recommend Trainspotting (1996) again. It is an Instant classic Scottish film with incredibly memorable characters that you will love Jimmy. It's short too!

Ben Trotter

I've got to put Ronin 1998 back out there again. There might not have been enough people who have seen it to get the votes, but i know how much both of you guys would love this movie.

Yes. I'll second this. Stephen Graham gave quite the performance in this one.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Agreed, that was an excellent film. However, I have to say, similar to my experience with Charlie Whatever on SOA, I find Chris Pine's attractiveness somewhat overbearing and distracting.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Cape Fear is phenomenal. Personally, I think Jessica Lange gives one of the best performances I've ever seen in that film. And Unbreakable is, BY FAAAAAR, my favourite M. Night Shamawhatever film. Practically flawless.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Maybe we should save Tucker and Dale for his Halloween/October reactions? Nice way to balance out fun-horror with horror-horror :)
