Not sure what the DCs will be... leaning towards a Jackie Chan movie for one of 'em tho.

The Hunt (2020) was a fun film. I'm going to add Cloverfield and Dead Man's Shoes, two films I could watch over and over again.

Didn’t see these on your watched list: The Hangover and The Rock (1996). Also, while it’s not in your usual genre, Hamilton is worth the watch as well.

Here's my selection: *Election* -1999 Call it a spiritual successor to Ferris Bueller's day off. Starring Reese Wheatherspoon, and Matthew Broderick. It's dark comedy at its finest. *Contact* -1997 Sci fi starring Jodie Foster, Matthew Mcconaughey, Interstellar before Interstellar. *Minority Report* Based on a novel, this is my favorite Spielberg movie by far. Led by Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell and supported by Neal McDonough, Max Von Sidow.. the premise is awesome, the writing is clean, the plot is cool and it's got an all star cast, what more do you want. *New World*-2013 Yep, still going to be plugging this movie. The best gangster movie KR has made. It's got an ensemble cast, an adaptation of a popular CN movie, it's Korea's version of The Departed. *Rounders* Matt Damon, Edward Norton, John Turturro, poker, and even my childhood crush is in a cameo the hot Famke Janssen. If you like poker, this is a must watch. *Source Code* Jake Gyllenhall is leading this really interesting sci fi, I've yet to see a bad movie from this guy. *The Grandmaster* You saw "practical" fighting in the Raid, then you saw unrealistic wire fu from Crouching Tiger hidden Dragon. This is a hybrid of both. It's still beautiful Wire-Fu, but the martial arts depicted are actual martial arts from real life. The actor trained all year long to do the stunt work justice. Led by Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, it's perhaps the most beautifully shot martial arts movie ever. If you do watch it, make sure you get the Chinese Edit (the longest version at 130 min). It's not just a matter of cutting stuff in the other version, they actually flipped some scenes around, it's a mess. *The Martian* - Surprised this wasn't already on your watched list as well. Based on a popular novel and starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, it's a great adaptation of the novel. *Avatar* - Don't listen to the haters about how it's not an original story from a bunch of hypocrites. Everything in Hollywood is a remake/reboot of something. The themes are familiar but it's still a great movie, despite some cringy writing at times. Why? Because nobody on Earth can shoot an action movie like James mother@# Cameron. Also if this dude spends 200M, the movie feels like a 200M movie, some thing a lot of directors could learn from. It's not going to win an oscar any time soon, but it's fun and considering there's 3 more on the way, might as well see what the fuss is all about. Copying my recs and deleting the ones you watch, sooner or later it'll all be removed hopefully.

Resubmiting unused suggestions of mine; I know some people disagree on some of these but I think they'd make good reactions. Any of these appeal?: Clue (1985), a who's who of 80s comedy talent does a wacky murder whodunnit based on the board game Speed Racer (2008), the Wachowski siblings campy bright kinetic action packed fun adaptation of the children's anime?  One of my favs. Contagion (2011), Steven Soderbergh's star studded tense thriller about a worldwide epidemic, which while a significantly worse plague ended up being prescient in certain ways Big Trouble in Little China (1986) teams Kurt Russell & director John Carpenter again (after The Thing & Escape from NY) in a campy self aware satirical action comedy that is one of my top 10 movies all time. Maverick (1994), an adventure/western/action/comedy adapting the 1957 show of the same name, about a slick, fast talking gambler and his misadventures attempting to acquire the entrance fee to a major poker tournament.  Stars Mel Gibson, with Jodie Foster, Alfred Molina, and James Garner.  A personal favorite from my youth. The King of Kong:  A Fistful of Quarters (2007), throwing a curveball:  a documentary.  It's pretty funny, about some super strange real life characters.  Talks about competitive arcade gaming, specifically a big fight over the world record for donkey kong.  It's a strange tale of underdogs, villains, and absurdity.

All good suggestions, but especially Contact, Minority Report, & Election

Some comedy classics : "Airplane" (1980) "Top Secret!" (1984) "The Naked Gun" (1988) "Galaxy Quest" (1999) Some asian goodness : "13 assassins" (2010) "Memories of Murder" (2003) "The Host" (2006) "Wheels on Meals" (1984) (for your Jackie Chan pick;)) And I'll add "The King of Comedy" from 1982, an underseen movie from Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro

▫️ THE PATRIOT!! Great epic-style film, I’ve pitched before, others to I think 🧐 Gibson and Heath Ledger. Has one my fav violent action sequences of ever ▫️ EDIT: I saw Summer of ‘84 (not ‘85) last summer, it was a fun summer flick! 80s era - feels like stranger things, be cause 4 young boys...to backdrop of the infamous serial killer era. You’d enjoy it.

Gotta keep doing my monthly suggestion of Birdman. One day, one day… And then based on the reception to Groundhog Day, also recommending Lost in Translation and Four Weddings and a Funeral for more excellence from Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, respectively.

I'm also going to suggest one of my favorites again: The Hunt. Danish masterpiece with Mads Mikkelsen (The best performance of his career in my opinion) A total must see,

Ethan

Trainspotting (1996). Please.

SpaceMonkey

Warrior (2011) The movie kinda totally bombed at the office and to this day remains one of the most underrated movies i know of. Also, it's kinda great. I think you two would have vastly different approaches to the movie. So i kinda want to see that.

HermitM

I'd like to see what you think of other John Carpenter films so I suggest Big Trouble in Little China and/or They Live.

Agnieszka Pienczykowska

Out of Sight Election Dark City A History of Violence Eastern Promises State of Grace Requiem for a Dream Half Nelson Sleepers Amelie

JD

I see 'What we do in the shadows/Big trouble in little china/The Patriot/Tucker and Dale vs evil/Eastern Promises' being suggested a lot. All top movies. 'Catch me if you can' is good from what I remember, been a while.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Oooh, I'd definitely vote for Out of Sight. That's a good one! And I think you might be the first other human I've come across that's actually seen State of Grace! :D

Robert Kruger

Hardcore Harry would be great for you, sci fi action flick in the same vein as Upgrade, but more video gamey. I haven't checked which ones you've seen, but I think another comedy would be nice so here are 5 of my favorites: Emperor's New Groove Drop Dead Fred Ghostbusters (the original) Ferris Bueller's Day Off A Fish Called Wanda

Jessi

Your Name would be lovely to see with you both!
