Nerd Going Outside

Here for this. No idea how this holds up for new viewers, hah. (Nice hair, Marcus) Edit post-watch: I would not have predicted that reaction. Awesome.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

That was a lot of fun, guys. Glad you liked it so much! :) Amen.

Director Harold Ramis (also played the doctor), who died in 2014, once told the New York Times that Connors was stuck in Groundhog Day for only 10 years.

Random as hell this was on the poll, random as hell this decisively won the poll, but I sure as hell am not complaining. One of my favorites, glad you both liked it. Aside from schilling for Birdman again, next month I might need to add Lost in Translation (to see Bill Murray be a fantastic lead again), Four Weddings and a Funeral (for Andie MacDowell being incredible again), and Happy Death Day for a similar premise with a light horror twang.

Unbeheld

The backstory to this movie is fascinating. Raimis (the director) and Murray had one of those legendary friendship. They had a string of comedies together that really are masterpieces. So they decided to team up for this movie. Murray wanted this movie to be a drama, a really deep exploration towards human behavior. A serious movie because he wanted to shed his cynical funny guy image. Raimis had a patented comedy formula and envisioned this movie to be just that a light delightful comedy. Between Bill going through a divorce and constantly fighting with Raimis on the set as to the direction of the film, it sadly broke their friendship. Murray hated Groundhog Day's silly themes. He went so far as to never speaking to Raimis for over 20 years because of this movie. When Raimis was diagnosed with a termina immune system disease, Murray showed up to his hospital. Despite the fact Raimis could no longer speak, he brought him donuts and after 20 years finally buried the hatchet. Raimis passed away a short while later and this is why the movie had some dramatic scenes (like the depression which led to multiple suicides, the old man dying etc..). Yet because the movie had 2 different creative angles constantly fighting, it created an absolute classic that even a 100 years from now, people would be able to relate. Groundhog Day has been translated in many countries and is hugely popular even overseas, because its themes transcends race, sex and religion. Just a fascinating movie overall and glad you two liked it.

that was fun, except for Cash an his stupid and sometimes gross comments. Just gotta learn to ignore him sometimes. But fun movie, hadn't seen it in a while.
