A slow Spartacus episode for sure from the rebellion side. Not my favorite. I could see that lasting half the episode, but I think it was a mistake dragging it out for a full. Nothing really moved along from episode 3. BUT thankfully, the next half of season is much better in my opinion than the first, sort of similar to season 1.

Asher was not having any of that roman's shit. The romans keep treating Spartacus and company as common slaves, granted a lot of them are, but the ones fighting them are gladiators. people who fight to the death on the whims of weak, but rich people. That's different from military, who yes fight to survive, but in ranks, not solo.

Also, I will be amazed if Jimmy predicts anything that happens in the later half of this season.

A very illuminating episode of Vengeance, it was very interesting first time around. Spartacus and his rebels are on the run for the first half of the season, not the most compelling storyline but it hit important points, escaping Capua, recruiting Nasir, rescuing Naevia from the Mines and outrunning the Romans in the Woods.

The Brotherhood suffers many losses this episode with Tychos and Sophus falling first to Marcus and his soldiers. Nasir gets badly wounded by the Tribune saving Mira's life, with Liscus and Fortis wanting to abandon him or kill him. Naevia tells Spartacus to cauterize his wound, keeping him from death and he sends the others for help.

Only for Fortis to be killed and the remaining rebels to have a third and final skirmish with the Romans, with Ashur slaying Liscus but Spartacus gives Marcus a grievous wound in return. Ashur tried to tell him that these Gladiators are more dangerous than anyone realizes, but his words fall on deaf ears with Marcus stubbornly wanting to kill Spartacus or die in the attempt.

Unfortunately he also underestimates Ashur's desire for survival and he silences the Tribune forever. Spartacus and Naevia both feel survivor's guilt as she was freed at the cost of Crixus' freedom and the deaths of all the rebels that followed. Spartacus' actions also weigh heavily as he feels every loss and is determined to make Liscus and the other sacrifices count. He gets the chance to as Agron and the rebels find Spartacus and the rest in the shadow of Vesuvius, ready to fight another day.

The Roman storyline in Capua is much more entertaining, seeing the nest of vipers facing off with each other. Glaber vs. Varinius, Illythia vs. Lucretia, Illythia vs. Glaber, Illythia vs. Seppia, she really does shine in the episode with her capacity for treachery and deceit. Her and Glaber's marriage was already shaky but now she wants free of the man who left her at the mercy of Lucretia and narrowly escaping a massacre, only to bring her back to the very same place and refuse to kill the woman who caused her so much pain and suffering.

She tells her Father that he was right about Glaber and to dissolve the marriage, but he won't have his family name tarnished by making her a single mother. She tempts Varinius to help free of being married so she can be with him. Varinius agrees only after she is free of Glaber, leaving her very hot and bothered. She also gained his eye by upstaging Seppia, proving the spoilt little girl doesn't have the stomach for violence killing poor tortured Acer in front of everyone.

Though she isn't the only one as Lucretia also maneuvers this episode to secure her place by her "prophecies" delivering Crixus, Acer and Rhaskos to them. Choosing Acer for slaughter and seducing Albinius. She also manages to convince Illithyia not to kill her by revealing she convinced her father to dissolve her marriage with Glaber and proof she is remorseful of her past misdeeds.

Illithyia spares her, but it's clear that these snakes are only waiting for the right moment to strike back at each other. Glaber does seemingly quell conflict with both Varinius and Seppius at the party, playing on their vanity and familial concern, how that will play out yet to be determined. The night ends with everyone seemingly satisfied, but it's clear, no one here is a good person and will knife each other given the opportunity.

Crixus and Lucretia also exchange words with her gloating that she will see the once beloved Champion of Capua and former lover die in disgrace in the Arena. Poor Oenomaus' is reeling from the knowledge that Melitta and Gannicus slept together and scolds Crixus for falling to ruin for it.

Finally the episode sees the return old rape face Cossutius, still as nasty as ever. Crixus, Oenomaus and Rhaskos face execution next episode, two former champions and a shit smelling Gaul, what could go wrong. Anyway I have gone on enough, thanks for the reaction and have a good day, peace.
