the octopus scene is real btw. The actor Choi Min-sik actually ate a living octopus 🤢 even though he's a vegetarian.

Spoiler: one of the greatest and cruel twists ever. But even more shocking: we haven't even seen the girl / Mido for ten seconds and your friend is like "Is that his daughter!?" Damn that was quick! 😵😱😱 Nearly fell off my chair when I heard that. Because I thought the twist was ruined. 😂😂😂

the corridor fight was one continuous take btw. It took seventeen takes in three days to perfect. Besides the knife in his back (cgi) everything they did in this scene is real. It's such a masterful scene - also because they were attacking him all at once and not just one by one.

The showrunners for Daredevil made an homage to that hallway scene by making their own as well, the fight was very realistic as it's sloppy (since low level goons wouldn't all be doing somersaults and flying kicks), and he just won from sheer stamina and rage.

this movie won a bunch of awards and it is loved just as much by the audience. rated #69 on imdb top 250 rated movies of all time. It's a cult classic already. And yes - it DID win the granz prize of the jury at Cannes Filmfestival 👍 😉

Remember, you owe me a vote ;-) I nominated Hardcore Harry, Touching the Void, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Delicatessen, A Quiet Place, Room, They Live, Meet the Feebles, The Revenant, Shakespeare in Love, Les Miserables, and Heavy Metal. I'd really like to see him react to Touching the Void, Delicatessen, or Heavy Metal since those are pretty unlikely "react to" movies. The first is a re-enactment of a true story. The second is a French Post Apocalyptic dark humor drama. The third is a series of animated shorts that is damn fun to see.

This is one of the few movies where I left feeling wronged by the movie. I remember watching this in 03 and being genuinely upset 🙂 "How dare you have a sex scene this hot only to later reveal how wrong it is. How dare you do that to my mind. You did a mind crime on me!"
