from that outburst, Batitatus has to know his wife is fucking Crixus. That wasn't a reasonable reaction to someone else wanting to fuck Crixus. Also the comment last episode about Him being family. She's making too many mistakes right now, she need to chill and let her husband make his moves.

Lucretia and Illythia talking to each other reminds me of Cersei and Margaery. Very enjoyable.

Like I said, this is a classic of the series with a great finish Jimmy. Illythia gets her comeuppance when she insists on sleeping with a gladiator like Licinia, predictably it's Crixus but she done goofed crossing Lucretia.

She has her masquerade sexy time only for Lucretia and Licinia to emerge and drop the bomb, that she fucked Spartacus, not Crixus. She gets choked for her trouble before he is removed. In true mean girl fashion Licinia laughs at the scandal this will bring on Illythia.

Then one of the most unexpected things happens, Illythia snaps and smashes Licinia's face on the floor, blood and brains everywhere. It was shocking the first time I saw it and it's become a favourite scene ever since. Lucretia protects herself and Batiatus by removing Licinia and gets her payback by having Illythia now at her mercy. They are a villainous power couple to the extreme.

The rest of the episode is pretty good too, Crixus returning to the Brotherhood, skills undiminished. Varro finding his wife and child missing, fighting with Ashur and getting locked up for his trouble. It's Spartacus to the rescue with him using his connections to help search for them.

Ashur's dreams of returning to the Arena are dashed by Batiatus which leads him to warn Solonius on the attempt on his life. The sneaky Syrian always looking for advancement and the episode introduces Mira, another fan favourite and her rapport with Spartacus.

Gratitude for this double helping of Spartacus Jimmy and for the shout out. The last three episodes continue this trend of excellence, take care and peace.

I'm not going to say I was totally invested in Crixus and Naevia, however I did think it was at least interesting that the mighty champion has a soft spot. And considering all of his other scenes are as tough guy, it's nice to see he has a heart somewhere in there. A satisfying contrast.

I just realized, but sadly around the original airing of episode 8 was when Andy Whitfield discovered that he had stage IV non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. The show was gaining quite a bit of traction around this time too, he must have been so proud at what he and the team accomplished. Frankly, terrifying that someone who was at peak physical condition could become so sick. Cancer sucks.

The things that you may have wanted to talk about: The Germans hating on Crixus and him egging them on whilst Spartacus calms the waters talking about being brothers? (somewhat of a role reversal) Ashur's shenanigans? Varro's wife's story? I consider Lucretia and Batiatus to be the ultimate power couple, with House of Cards being only second to it only by a hair, a thick pubic hair.

I have always liked calling this the real housewives of capua. The fighting brought me in, but the behind the scenes of house batiatus sold me.
