I LOVE THIS MOVIE 😍😍 - "Look up idiot in the dictionary. You know what you'll find?" - "A picture of me?" - "No! The definition of the word "idiot"! Which you fucking are!"

Gay Perry might have been the bst character - but Robert Downey Jr was fucking excellent in this movie. One of my favorite performances of his (and I have seen everything he has ever done!) This was also one of his first roles after he made a full recovery from drugs and basically started a comeback of his career. He also released his album "The Futurist" - this is him singing during the credits of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. At that time he also played diverse characters in many different movie genres. (Just like he did in the 90s). Which is something I very much preferred over him just playing Iron Man for over a decade, Because he's a brilliant actor and he should play more roles like this. He can play anything. And I'm very excited what he's going to do now that he's done with the MCU. The director Shane Black also directed the Nice Guys and he created the characters of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh of the Lethal Weapon franchise (my favorite buddy cop movies and one of my favorite movies ever). He's excellent at this genre. Unfortunately Kiss Kiss Bang Bang wasn't much of a success when it came out, which is the reason why we never got a sequel. Which really annoys me because nowadays nearly everything gets a sequel - and this is one of the few movies that actually deserves one. (The Nice Guys as well).

This movie is just all around fun and Val Kilmer killing it. Couple of other excellent roles for him from around the same time were The Salton Sea and Spartan. I don't think either were very popular but he was fantastic in them. They're no Heat or Tombstone but worth it for more Kilmer badassery.

Shane Black and Christmas timed/themed action movies. It just works.

Robert Kruger

Quite frankly, this movie seemed like a movie that only people that hadn't seen Ferris Bueller's Day off would like. It's just not very impressive to me.

I don't see any connection to Ferris Bueller's Day Off 😂 and I like KKBB more than that one. KKBB is a very very popular movie nowadays. It wasn't when it came out, but it could develop a kind of cult status over the years. Not really surprising for me though. This is exactly my kind of movie - Iike I said in my other comment: I love Shane Black, I love The nice guys and Lethal Weapon - especially the characters he creates. This is one of my top 20 movies from 2000-2010. I've seen it a million times and I know the dialoge by heart 😂😍😍 I'm sad you didn't enjoy it very much - but we can't always have the same opinion 😉
