The Finch speech in this episode is just incredible. It might be the best scene of the entire show, for me. It’s perfect.

Great reaction, Jimmy. Worth the wait. RIP Elias and Root, two glorious villains-turned-allies. While some of the shooting was plain ridiculous (Samarigoons can't aim for shit), this episode packed such an emotional punch. And yeah, Emerson is pretty damn good, isn't he? Gotta be honest, I love Ben, but I think Harold might actually edge him by a sliver. He just kills it in those last 10 mins, and I am not even that big on long speeches. Finch has finally run out of fucks to give.

I write this before I watch the reaction: omg. This is my favourite episode next to The Crossing (s3 E9, Carter's death), The devil's share (s3, E10, when they avenge Carter's death. Fucking perfect episode!), If-then-else (s4, E11), Deus ex machina (s3 finale), Prisoner's Dilemma (s2, E12, Donnelly catches Reese) and the finale (s5, E13) (which might be controversial for some, but I love it to death) all of them have a 9,8 or 9,9 rating on imdb. (I'm usually not too interested in that but they just got it right this time). Probably my most anticipated reaction...alright let's go 😫😫🤗🤗

The whole episode just showed how right Root was that they need the machine to fight. And again Harold refused. Then Elias gave his life to protect Harold (who doesn't even have a gun!) and then Root threw herself in front of a bullet to protect Harold. And finally it pushed him over the edge, because he also realised his own mistake and that people actually died for him and his ideals. I love Harold, but he's wrong on so many occasions and it's very sad Root had to die to make him realise his mistake. But we do get his awesome speech at the end though ❤

Is opinion on the finale really divided? That episode is fucking perfection as a series closer. They stuck the landing so hard.

Agree one of the best episodes for sure. Up there with Shaw's intro episode, Carter revenge episode, and Shaw shot at end episode.

Like Lost, I really wish I could erase this show from memory just so I could rewatch it again for the first time. This episode is my favorite of season 5. Harold's speech is perfection and again Michael Emerson is brilliant. Only a few more to go and I'm ready. I also agree that the finale is a perfect ending to this show. Let's go.

I liked the episode overall, but I didn't like how they wrote Elias' and Root's deaths. That is, to me both of those scenes lacked emotional impact. Those were characters that we followed for 5 years and I feel like their death scenes could have been handled so much better. These two kind of reminded me of Sayid's death on Lost, which also felt completely lacking and not fit for one of the main characters.

I 100% agree. I am extremely upset and annoyed at both of their deaths, because they felt like they were just thrown in there for the sake of having deaths.

The police had been at the scene of Elias' death for awhile, but it wasn't until John showed respect for the dead -- and for Elias -- by closing his eyes that someone stepped up with the license plate number. I also consider the " I wasn't talking to you " speech to be brilliant.
