Gon is no more selfish than anybody else who is avenging/trying to save someone they care about. Like, no shit. They are pursuing something incredibly personal to them and will do anything to accomplish it. "Was a dick to Killua." Yeah, Killua understood though. Let's examine the context why don't we. His threat to Komugi was important, without it Pitou would not move according to his wishes. This is just basic stuff and anyone would've done it. He didn't actually* do anything to Komugi. Pitou is literally programmed to worship Meruem. If he ordered her/them to murder an entire school full of children - she would do it with a smile. That is a weird thing to bring up. Acting as if Pitou's actions are somehow more virtuous than Gon's purely because she is doing them for someone else. Hell, Gon is doing it for someone else too! Remember Kite? Nothing Gon did was actually "wrong" in the end. I mean, Pitou deserved death. THAT was always coming, it was pretty damn clear.

Lol totally get it about Gon, he's been selfish, cold, and was a dick to Killua - not to mention his threat on Komugi. While on the other hand, Pitou is definitely not who he/she/it was when he/she/it killed Kite. Pitou's actions are entirely driven by loyalty and genuine care for the King. Gon's actions lately have come from pretty selfish place comparatively. What I love is that he's always had these flaws, much like so many other shounen anime protagonists. But with most other shows, they never seem to be portrayed as vices, and HxH doesn't shy away from letting the main character be wrong/selfish. And Gon's development from episode one to this point is just crazy while still making sense.

Man fuck pitou, that thing deserves to be treated the way gon is treating her(him?). Pitou should've kept that same energy as when she killed Kite. Zero sympathy.

I don't outright disagree, but things to consider: Pitou had been alive for less than a day when it attacked Kite, at that point Pitou was basically a newborn wild animal with some human traits (and a lot of aura). Plus, at that point Kite was an intruder into the Chimera Ant territory. Of course it would attack. Since then, Pitou has definitely matured and developed, a lot of this happened when Pitou saw how much pain the king felt at the idea of losing Komugi. Not saying Pitou is a saint, but there has been some growth. Also, chimera ants obviously inherit traits from the animals they are made up of. A lot of Pitou's more "sadistic" behavior is likely natural impulse from being part cat. The way that Pitou wants to "play" with Kite reminds me very much of how cats hunt smaller animals. In fact, Pitou loved "playing" with Kite so much, it developed its entire nen ability around bringing things back. I don't think it's necessarily evil, no more so than any other animal's actions. By the time Pitou's ego and human awareness has had a chance to grow, I think there is a notable change in its personality. I'm not saying Pitou is blameless, or a good person/ant/thing. Or that Pitou doesn't deserve the repercussions of what happened to Kite. I just don't think she's an entirely unsympathetic character either.
