One thing I've always loved about the show is that shit has consequences that don't go away. Galactica's battle damage stays that way. There's no starbase or shipyard to go to so shit that gets fucked up stays fucked up. And now the food shortage - they're eating algae paste and fake tofu burgers from here on out. It's just L after L until they hopefully get somewhere they can lay down their burdens.

One interesting story detail, in the original script there was a subplot about Athena being worried that Helo had a much lower acceptable level of radiation that he could survive because of all his time spent on Caprica back in season 1. While it got cut from the episode, one surviving bit is that that's supposed to be Helo's radiation tracker that Kat trades with when hers turns black(so it wasn't just her going back out, but pulling Helo off before his radiation got lethal).
