this season definitely feels like it dumps the doom and gloom of the first season a bit. The tone is somewhat the same but also so different

The move to Jarden/Miracle really opens up the show, tonally, visually, world-building-wise... and the pacing this season *pizza box chef kiss* can't wait!

Yes, the opening sequence is a metaphor for the main themes of the show, but more interestingly (to me at least), it takes place in prehistoric Miracle. In fact, the cavewoman died right next to the body of water that vanished at the end of this episode.

Yeah, I think that's accurate. The transition from the prehistoric to modern times in one shot makes that rather clear, I think :)
