I find this show very interesting. Levi and Mikasa are very very similar character wise. Yet Mikasa is my least favorite character in the show and Levi is my 3rd. And for you that’s basically opposite. Haha. Love your reactions man, keep em coming!

It's here!!!!! Jimmy you will definitely see answers to some of your questions. Hang in there! As for how many soldiers there are...hard to say! But it's safe to say the Garrison Regiment, under Commander Pixis, has the most. (In this episode, when they referred to the dead and injured, they were talking about those in the Garrison.) Recall that only the top 10 students of every training/graduating class can join the Military Police. They would have the least amount of members. Very few want to join the Survey Corps, under Commander Erwin, because they're the ones who go into Titan territory (so, beyond the protected/unbreached walls) and their death toll is high. Up until the Armored and Colossal titans let the titans in back in the first episode, only the Survey Corps had actual seen/fought titans. So most people who are enlisting in a military division are enlisting in the Garrison Regiment.

Levi is my second favorite, very close to no.1. He was always high up. Then I watched his OVA/backstory episodes. Just wow. His backstory was everything I wanted...and then some! (I was always curious about how he met Erwin and why their dynamic is the way it is...Bless the OVA, gave me all the context and content I needed.) In fact, this show could have been entirely about the older characters (Levi, Erwin, Hanji, etc.) and I imagine I would enjoy it even more haha. I love them all so much. (edit: Jimmy, when you finish s1, there are some important OVA's to watch before s2! One is called "Ilse's Notebook" and the other is "A Choice With No Regrets (parts 1+2)".)

To answer your question about how many soldiers there are: Garrison Regiment (maintenance and protection of the wall); about 30,000, 10,000 of which are "battle ready"; under Pixis. Scout Regiment (Scouting outside the walls); about 270; under Erwin (Levi under him) Military Police Regiment (Protection of inside walls territory); about 2,000 plus direct command over about 3,000 Garrison members.

Actually. Levi is not that high ranking. Mike is next in line after Erwin. And Hanji after Mike.

Great reaction Jimmy! Marco actually was a character that'd been around since episode 3. He was Jean's best friend and wanted to join the military police to serve the king. He told Jean that he wasn't strong and that it made him a great leader a few episodes ago.

Just in case, the PiP shows a truncated version, I think the televised version, when Jean gets rescued by Annie and Connie and Marco, don't know if you can tell it looked a little weird there. When it was released on physical media it was the finished animation of Annie and Jean gallivanting about and her saving him, badass as hell. No big deal, but just in case anyone wants to check out the finished verison it is NOT on kissanime or gogoanime, I can't remember where I saw it.
