Look everybody! Evidence that we are in-fact getting a new Call of Duty this year, because it sure as hell doesn't feel like the normal gaming climate. I can't remember a time where I've seen every other first person shooter's core-gameplay except the newest COD, but it's what I'm currently living.

Now, I can't say I'm missing it terribly. One year without Call of Duty would be mighty refreshing, but evidently, the liquor cabinet needs to be filled at Activision, judging by their recent allegations, so that's not gonna happen. A new Call of Duty's gonna come out, regardless of its necessity, desire, or quality.

That last point matters the least.

Now, honestly, I can't reveal any information, give an in-depth take, or travel down memory lane with this subject.

I'm just... very weirded out by how Call of Duty's been handled since Modern Warfare's reboot in 2019. You've got a game that was undeniably made by a passionate team, many of its leaders leaving Infinity Ward's extension, Respawn Entertainment, for a desire to return to the setting they had so much success after 2007.

If there's any video-game that could've held the franchise down for two years, it was Modern Warfare, and if there's any video-game that needed an extra year of development, its Black Ops Cold War.

Watching friends binge the Zombies portion of the game, many express enjoyment to the campaign, and even people steadily coming around to its take on Multiplayer, it seems more and more like Cold War's steadily becoming the game it should've been at launch… only people won't see it.

They'll be playing this latest installment, and I guess that's why it baffles me so much. Where making a great game is supposed to inspire further greatness, instead, it's just lead to Activision kicking the can down further and further, hoping the next one is where new profits are earned without a hassle.

Actually, it's a lot more likely they don't care about the issues along the way…

Profit, is profit.

I loved MW1 and 2 back in the day, I really played the shit out if it... and MW19 (not Warzone) totally brought back my love for the series. Until the cheaters killed it. Such a shame that Activision pretty much abandoned it so soon. It hurts me, to the point that I don't even want to invest any time in Cold War anymore. Let alone whatever this new CoD is. You're absolutely right, and it makes me sad.
