Appearance:
Standing six feet-two inches in height, Riyo is the textbook definition of the tall handsome Knight. Lithe and fit, with haunting orange eyes and a devilish smile, his exotic looks have made him a favorite amongst those who are fans of the Order. Riyo is of an ancient and rare outland bloodline, his race, the wakaleos are said to have been endangered even in the years leading up to the cataclysm. As such he is seen as an exotic beauty amongst men. His rather boyish good looks are appreciated by men and women alike. Riyo sports tawny brown fur, with white spot patterns about his coat. His face is adorned with several of these white flicks that resemble tribal fur brands. As with all wakaleos seen in Theria, Riyo has mostly white hair with natural flicks of orange and cream; though what really stands out are the features unique to his breed. Firstly, the shape and pattern of his teeth. Wakaleos have a strange dental structures that are defined by their prominent front teeth. The Palawa, the culture Riyo hails from states that this trait is now prominent in wakaleo due to their insistence on only breeding with their thylacoleo cousins for many years, in an attempt to bolster their dwindling numbers without weakening the gene pool; as ancient wakaleo teeth were not quite as prominent. This dental oddity is seen as intimidating and weird to Therian’s and most wakaleo tend to not smile toothily because of it. Not Riyo, who is proud of his teeth. Another notable physical trait Riyo shares with his breed is the large claws on his thumbs. Very much different than the rest of the claws on the knight’s paws, it is the trait that got his race nicknamed the thumb claws. Riyo and his sister also sport a defining familiar trait of long multicolored striped tails. Browns and whites over their tawny fur, speckled with white spots. Riyo is constantly complimented on the beauty of his long, fluffy, tail.

Personality:

Despite his outward appearance as a devil-may-care individual who is shrewd in his dealings and unconcerned with the trifles of courtly life, Riyo is a deeply caring individual. Though he wears his humor and cool demeanor like an armor, Riyo feels deeply for his fellow kinlings and lives with a great deal of personal motivation to do the right thing. The child of a dangerous huntress, Riyo is quite aware of the stigma against outlanders who haven’t integrated into a community and though he’s loathed to admit it, longs to be apart of something stable. Though many find him to be witty and approachable, there is a darker side to Riyo. Having grown up in the wilds, the young Blade Breaker is ruthless in battle. He offers his opponents no quarter or mercy regardless of age, gender or status; the latter of which has earned him the ire of the knighthood. Because of his unwillingness to conform and the circumstance of his knighthood, he is mocked openly by the knighthood with the title Sir Riyo the Sword Shaman.

CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY

Childhood:

Riyo Vandeluer was born to a sellsword named Ormsby Vandeluer and a Palawan huntress named Myaree. The youngest of twins, he and his sister were born on a dark, lonley night in the pits of Aisen, deep in the heart of the Moorlands. His mother Myaree had been kidnapped by a powerful eldermen cult called the Children of the White Mask. Their leader was a Palawan Shaman who had rose to power among their ranks. Having kidnapped many wilderings and Outland nomads over the course of the fall, the cult had become feared and loathed by the Palawa. When Myaree’s sister Elmeka became one of their victims, the wakaleo defied the tribe elders and set off to rescue her. During her attempt she met Ormsby and his company of mercenaries. They had been hired to retrieve victims of the cult who had been kidnapped from the southern Timberlands. Myaree refusal to work with the sellswords and Ormsby in particular in saving the captives. Though as a thylacoleo, he was cousin to her kin, a fellow marsupial lion; Ormsby was a ‘settler’. Among the Outland nomads those who turned their back on the tribes and the old traditions and settled into the life of Therians were labeled ‘settlers’. Though they were not shunned by Outlanders or the Palawa in particular, they were frowned upon and treated with suspicion and contempt. This contempt led Myaree to work alone to find her sister, rather than assisting the mercenaries. Her efforts ended up exposing them all and leading to the deaths of most of the company. She and the survivors, including Ormsby were captured and imprisoned in the pits.

Over the next two years the cult conducted depraved rituals and sacrifices of their many victims. Myaree’s sister had been one such victim. Forcing the wakaleo to drink strange potions and warping her mind with hallucinogenic plants, Elmeka, like the other stolen women, was subjected to bizarre sexual rituals. The children born of these depraved acts were sacrificed to appease the Elderian ‘Gods’. Myaree and a few others who were strong in their quintessence were not put through these rituals. Instead they were continually drained of their life force to power a mighty artifact that would rip holes in the forbidding. The eldermen were attempting to free lilin from the Elderlands. Like many others, Omry and Myaree would have all of their quintessence forcefully drained until close to death, then nursed back to health in order to repeat the cycle. Myaree was nearly made mad by the process. However as a precious resource to the cult’s plans, Omry and others of great quintessence were kept alive in the less vile areas of the pits. Here Omry had taken charge and through his own strength of character, gave the prisoners hope. Myaree fell in love with him and over the course the years endured. When she became pregnant with the Riyo and his sister, Omry knew he could not allow her to be drained by the Shaman’s artifact again. Omry organized an uprising that he knew would end in the death of himself and most of the survivors in order to earn Myaree’s freedom, before the cult learned of her pregnancy.

His uprising came at a fortuitous time. The Shaman’s had been expanding their area of influence and had begun to kidnap young Vultui from the Moorlands. The warrior women of the Vultui would not let this stand and their retaliation was a spectacle to behold. Though many of the prisoners died in the battle, including Omry, Myaree escaped with the aid of the Vultui warriors.

Though mostly an isolationist society, the Vultui did trade with outsiders. They had a long standing relationship with the Outland tribe’s tradesmen and because of the low rate of male birth’s within their society, often fulfilled breeding contracts with people the felt were worthy. Though often times only keeping girls born of these unions. It was this prior relationship that saved Myaree’s life. In exchange for safe harbor and assistance; Myaree promised that if she had a son; he would fulfill a breeding contract with the Vultui. The Warriors were pleased with this development, as Myaree’s fight for survival and freedom had impressed them. They saw her as having a strong bloodline. When Riyo and Champa were born, the contract was drawn up for Riyo to one day fulfill a breeding contract with one of three young women of the Vultui warrior class.

Cool looking as always, love the design of each knight's weapon. Sword Shaman that is kind of cool sounding, but he should be THE Mocha Knight.
