Wife was going to die regardless, it was either save the kid and the wife dies or They both die and the kid ended up dying anyway which is unfortunate. so the issue with the Crab Feeder is that they are killing the soldiers and destroying the ships just for sailing through that area because they are pirates being supported by the free cities. the king is soft af for being scared to kill some pirates that are KILLING HIS PEOPLE. Crowlys called daemon cause he knew daemon isnt no bitch and will actually act and address an issue (as you saw in the first episode when he took care of all the criminals lol) issue with viserys marrying alicent is because there is no benefit from that marriage besides the chance of having a son (which can happen with anyone) and the reason he was so strongly advised to marrying leana (although she is 12 which fucked) is because how strong and wealthy her house is and there children would take the targareyn name with vaylerion blood, so they would continue ruling for a long ass time. he decided against it regardless. Now Daemon, he didnt betray anyone, he actually loves his brother as too way he didnt let Lord Crowlys talk shit about him. he is an asshole and a troll in a sense but loyal. he only stole the egg to get his brothers attention as too why he invited him to the wedding lol. im awful at explaining but i think thats the gist of it. if are confused by anything else.

The issue with Aemma is not that she was simply going to “die anyway”. Too many people misinterpreted the entire situation. It was meant to show his desperation for a male heir that he was willing to kill his wife at the chance the baby was a boy. He made a bad gamble and it was thrown back in his face when the baby died because he murdered his wife. He or the doctor didn’t discuss the birth issues with her, viserys decided her life wasn’t worth it and held her down while they cut her open. In the very least they could have put her out of her misery quickly since they knew she wouldn’t survive the c section, but they didn’t care.

And that’s fine, but in the book it was alluded to that she may have lived if they had waited a little longer before the c section. So it’s a factor open to discussion.

They mentioned in the first episode that The Free Cities are helping fund the crab-feeder pirates (and getting free passage, probably). The Stepstones are islands in an important passageway for trade ships, so that's important to both Westeros and The Free Cities (which is a group of huge cities on the continent across the Narrow Sea). Lord Corlys has a lot of trade ships affected by the pirates and of course wants the king to act to take control of the area. That's about what one needs to know, I think. :)
